11:51 AM ET  01.19 | Well, today's the day that Canadian hockey fans have been waiting for. The start of the NHL season. I watched some OHL hockey action last night. Bellville hammered Niagara 7-2 and Kitchener beat Brampton in a shoot out 4-3. One baseball note to passed along. the Chicago Cubs have signed three players. The club signed Matt Garza to a $10.25 million contract, Jeff Samardzija to a $2.64 million contract, and James Russell to a $1.075 million contract.
