06:07 PM ET 01.22 | Well, my Leafs put up a good fight, but fell short last night as they lost to Buffalo 2-1. The star of the game was Sabre's net minder, Ryan Miller. Both Nashville and Winnipeg are now 0-2, after losing their games in shoot outs. Nashville lost to St. Louis 4-3 and Winnipeg lost to Boston 2-1. The New York Islanders edged Tampa Bay 4-3. The big news in hockey today is the retirement of Tomas Holstrom. He won four Stanley Cups and one Olympic championship during his 15 years in hockey. A couple of baseball notes to pass along. My Blue Jays have signed, yet, another player. They have signed Mark DeRosa to a one-year, $750,000 contract. Philadelphia have signed Delmon Young also to a one-year, $750,000 contract.
