The Stack is back on this Thursday and there are definitely some headlines from yesterday that need to be talked about, so let's get right to it and see what made "the stack" for today, Thursday, January 24:

NCAA says Maimi (FL) investigation was botched

Leave it to the NCAA to mess up an already messy situation.  The NCAA said that their investigation group investigating the Nevin Shapiro improper benefits situation did not properly obtain information.  Basically, the NCAA is now going to have to re-do their investigation on the Miami (FL) situation and conduct a review on their original investigation.  There are a lot of people out there that feel that the NCAA wants to turn a blind eye to this sort of thing regarding big time programs, which Miami is.  This vindicates their point.  NCAA President Dr. Mark Emmert has a major problem on his hand.  This needs to be dealt with.  And Miami needs to be punished, severly, especially with the whole Frank Haith situation.  It's time to draw the line when it comes to laying down sanctions, regardless of the name of the school.  Those who did not conduct the investigation need to be punished and whoever at Miami that was involved with this situation need to be punished.  Who knows if that will happen though.

Will Dwight Howard be traded?

The Los Angeles Lakers, the biggest disappointment of the NBA season at 17-25, may trade Dwight Howard.  Some believe they still have a good chance of re-signing him after the season.  Others think they have no chance of keeping him so try to get something in return for him now.  Believe it or not, the Brooklyn Nets would be interested.  Then there is the whole saga regarding Howard in Mike D'Antoni's system.  He wants more shots.  He is statistically having the worst year of his career in six or seven years.  Seems as though he is a little unhappy.

But the drama doesn't stop there.  The Lakers held a team meeting prior to Wednesday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies to air out their concerns.  Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash said plenty.  Howard reportedly was called out and he didn't respond well.  Howard denies that.  Well, scoring two points against the Grizzlies and then supposedly aggravating his shoulder doesn't necessarily give you any favor from fans and the media. Oh and then the Lakers lost 106-93 to the Grizzlies, their seventh straight road loss, fourth straight loss overall.  The nightmare, drama filled season continues.

#1 Duke falls hard

Mentioned earlier all of the bad things happening with Miami and that investigation, but there was some great news last night as they pummeled #1 Duke 90-63.  The Hurricanes were up 42-19 at half.  It was like Duke never showed up.  They couldn't make a basket and were very sloppy.  They got caught napping in the second half as the Hurricanes stole a pass and went in for an easy layup, prompting coach K to take several starters out.  Maybe it was just an off night, but this underminds the fact that this season, there is no clear cut number one team.  No one is dominant.  Look at Louisville, losers of two in a row since they were number one.  Is Michigan truly a number one team?  Yeah, but I wouldn't pencil them in for sure as the team cutting down the nets at the end of March Madness.  Very bad loss for Duke.  Don't know if they miss the big guy Ryan Kelly  that much or what, but they need to find some answers.

Duke wasn't the only ranked team to go down Wednesday.  #9 Butler lost to LaSalle 54-43.  Kind of a head-scratcher there.  Drake knocked off #17 Creighton 74-69 and Northwestern beat #12 Minnesota 55-48.  All of the ranked teams lost on the road.  Not a good day to be a ranked team.

Jets may be looking to trade Revis

Revis Island may be coming to a team near you.  The New York Jets, specifically owner Woody Johnson, are reportedly mulling over their trade options on cornerback Darrelle Revis.  Revis is coming off of a torn ACL, but you know how many teams would still want to take a chance on him.  He is was one of the best shutdown cornerbacks in the game.  Johnson, who was reportedly "forced" into the Tim Tebow trade, is a moron if he trades Revis.  Highly doubtful he will, but unless he is willing to completely blow up the franchise (which some people think needs to happen anyway), then why trade your best defensive player.  Unless he knows something we don't regarding Revis' rehab, keep Revis Island in New York.  Pretty sure almost every other team would make a call about getting Revis.  

Justin Upton may be joining brother in Atlanta

The Arizona Diamondbacks are talking with the Atlanta Braves about trading outfielder Justin Upton to the Atlanta Braves and expect to make a decision in the next couple of days.  What makes this more interesting is that Upton's brother, B.J., signed with the Braves in the offseason.  The Upton brothers are pretty talented.  This would definitely help them be one of the best teams in the NL and make another run at the postseason.  Upending the Washington Nationals is going to be tough to do though.  Stay tuned.
