Yes, it's true folks. My Leafs defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins handedly last night by a score of 5-2. James Van Riemsdyk scored two goals and got an assist for the Leafs. Mikhail Grabovski score a goal and got an assist for Toronto. There is, however, some bad news for Leaf fans. Joffrey Lupul will be out for at least six weeks with a broken arm he'd suffered in last night's game. One other hockey note. The New York Rangers have acquired Benn Ferriero from Pittsburgh for Chad Kolarik. Now to baseball. The big news of the day is that Justin Upton is now an Atlanta Brave. Arizona traded Upton, Chris Johnson in exchange for Martin Prado, Randell Delgado, prospects Brandon Drury, Nick Ahmed, and Zeke Spruill. The New York Mets have signed Shaun Marcum to a one-year contract, pending a physical. Boston have hired former pitcher, Pedro Martinez as their special assistant to general manager, Ben Cherington. The Chicago Cubs have signed Scott Hairston to a two-year contract. The Chicago White Sox have claimed Zach Stewart off waivers. Miami has signed Kevin Slowey to a Minor League contract. Finally, Brandt Snedeker and Charles Howell III share the lead (-7) at the Farmer Insurance Open after one round.
