While I am a die-hard Pats fan I must admit that I wish that Belichick would take some hints from his mistakes... from Spygate to how he reacts to the media he really has a lot of room for improvement... no one can argue about his ability to coach, but he needs to make some other drastic changes in his life... I think about what the season would have been if he never spied or if he'd been more open with the media... perhaps others could have enjoyed the team and their amazing accomplishments (which is what we fans really have enjoyed)... then people would have been able to see that there are some really great players/people on the team... there would always be naysayers, but Belichick has not done anything to improve matters...
People may think that a lot of Pats fans are arrogant, but I think that those people fail to look at the other side of the coin... if it were their team in this position would they simply pack up and not support them? I doubt it, especially since the teams are more then any one person (including the coach)... I never supported what Belichick did, but I support the team as I always have, and always will... I am not sure if people can't understand or choose not to understand, but if they were to truly put themselves in our shoes perhaps they wouldn't be so likely to point the finger...

When I posted similar remarks about Belichick to Patsfans.com forum, I got a message saying I wa banned from the site...forever
I was respectful, like you in my comments and was never rude or profane.
They seem to run their site like a communist state...Only the party line allowed
Its funny they call themselves "Patriots." A term symbolizing freedom of speech and other noble ideals that our Founding Fathers fought and died for.
I admire true fans like you who can stand for honor, grace and integrity
Thanks

It's hard to believe how much effort has been put into making 'spygate' a big deal. Too many small minds out there, particularly in the media. I've been a big NFL fan since the early 60's and 'spying' is nothing new. The attempts by George Allen used to be laughable and the media had fun with it back then. The thing is this is the first time, to my knowledge, a coach was ratted out by a fellow coach and where a media stink was made about it. Add to that the NY media hatred of Belichick and you have some wonderful noise to make and as long as it takes to run a personality like Bill's down.
As far as his personality with the media itself, what's the big deal? That's simply his personality; the way he is. Do we expect a Gruden media style out of all coaches? They have different styles, so accept it as such. Just keep in mind, that as long as you have a media like NY's out to get a rival coach then there will always be some exaggerated issue.

I find the patriots and their fans to be not only arrogant, but ignorant. They conveniently ignore the fact that Bellichek's actions in Spygate are a direct attack on the integrity of the game they claim to love. It's one thing to be driven to win, it's entirely another to cheat. He has brought shame to his team and the entire National Football League. I don't know if Walsh has more evidence of previous cheating, but in my opinion, what has already been revealed is sufficent to bar Bellichek from the Hall of Fame.

I cant beleive anyone is ignorant to think only the pats have done this.we all know they are not the only ones.they are the only ones who got caught by someone selling them out.and everyone is gonna make an example on the pats to get across everyone else who is cheating.

thank you so much for hitting it right on the nose with how we true patriots fans feel. It killed me when I heard about the cheating and how horrible it must be for the players to have to defend themselves against not only the fans, but every team as well.THE COMPLETE EMPTINESS THAT EVERY TRUE PATS FAN FELT ON SUPER BOWL SUNDAY AND A FEW DAYS AFTER SHOULD BE ENOUGH OF A PUNISHMENT TO US AND THE TEAM. Belichick is a sour puss, but he is also a devoted and excellent coach. Don't take his talent away from him because he has a poor demeanor.

I'm not a Patriots fan and agree with some of what Jack Smack is saying. Most Patriots fans where, I wouldn't go as far as saying ignorant but maybe stubborn in admitting it was wrong to spy. What really bothered the rest of us sports fans is the spin (I.E. lurker88) most patriots fans tried to put on the whole fiasco. I mean there were copious amounts of Bostonians trying to rationalize cheating by saying everyone else does it. To tell you the truth it was quite pathetic to see a portion of the Patriot nation reduced to adolescent schoolyard reasoning. At least I can say you Crypto, can admit it was not right. But now I???m over it, the Patriots got there do per Karma and all is balanced in the universe.

What an amazing amount of crap being slung by Patriot detractors! sore losers hit it on the head, and it's hardly schoolyard reasoning; it's simple fact. It's been going on as long as the game has. If a bottom dweller got caught it wouldn't have been such an issue, but because it's the 'hated' Patriots - oh my!!
Big bloody deal - he was ratted out and caught, paid the price, end of story.
It should also be noted that the jet coach could have handled this quietly by warning Belichick and stopped it right there. Instead he opted to make a lot of noise and attempt to humiliate. So for all you ivory tower dwellers out there who have never erred - someone once said something about castng the first stone.
