Alexander Steen scored the winner in overtime for the St. Louis Blues in a rather entertaining game last night against the Detroit Red Wings. The final score was 4-3. On paper, the Ottawa/Pittsburgh looked like it was going to be a good match up. In the end, though, it turned out to be a real dud as the Penguins won 4-2. Ottawa's best defenseman, Erik Karlsson was injured during the game when Pittsburgh's Matt Cooke's skate cut the back of his leg. Word came out today that Karlsson will be out for the rest of the season. That is very bad news for the Senators. A couple of baseball notes to pass along. St. Louis have extended general manager, John Mozeliak's contract for three years. They also picked up manager, Mike Matheny's option for 2014. Colorado have acquired Reid Brignac from Tampa Bay for cash and a player to be named later. Matt Kucher leads the Northern Trust Open by two strokes (-7) after one round.
