I have been a Red Sox fan for a long time and even when my military career started and took me from home in Massachusetts I was still able to keep up with the happenings of my beloved Sox. 2013 marks the first baseball season in a while that I have absolutely no idea what to expect. In years past the glass was full, empty, half full or half empty. This year I cannot even try to make a prediction because there are so many variables and we are still 5 days away from the split squad games against BC and Northeastern.
Recently, I acquired a new phone and one of the first apps that I downloaded was that for WEEI so that I can continue to follow the Red Sox and try and get some better insight of what to expect in 2013. So far peopleare predicting 90-95 wins, a .500 ballclub and a sub .500 club. When was the last time there was so much disparity in how the Red Sox could finish? I have seen teams that had no chance in hell of achieving a winning record getting into the playoffs and as we all know some of the best teams on paper could not deliver even a one game playoff to end 2011.
2013 is going to be interesting one way or another and I, like most other members of Red Sox Nation, am ready for this team to take the field and see it all play out. In my head I imagine the Red Sox challenging the 2001 Mariners' record of 116 wins post Junior, Johnson, and A-Rod, then again I am a dreamer. No matter how it ends I will be watching with all the joy and excitement I have every other year.
