Monty's quote: ".....''That is unacceptable...........We have to bring the energy and effort because we don't have high-level talent at every position. We just didn't have it in the first quarter.''....."
The -we don't have high-level talent at every position- quote is a sign of -lack of maturity- by an NBA coach, and even though that may be a true statement it should not be made in public, specially when you're coaching a young team.
If I were a player this might not be the guy I want to play for, those kinds of comments are not confidence builders.
I don't remember the last time I herd an NBA coach belittle a players talent, sure I've seen quotes that questions their effort but never their talent.
If one gets to the NBA there is an understanding that you have to be a good basketball player, of course among them there are different levels of talent, but that's true in anything we do.
Monty Williams was wrong in calling out his players talent, I have no problem with his second quote -We have to bring the energy and effort .........- that quote is a standard everyday cry by coaches in just about every sport.
We can all agree those were poorly chosen words.
As always this is a fans opinion and from what I understand everybody has one and I'm thankful for that.
Enough said.
