Denny Hamlin's punishable quotes labeled as a detriment to the sport:

"I don't want to be the pessimist, but it did not race as good as our Gen-5 cars. This is more like what the Generation 5 was at the beginning. The teams hadn't figured out how to get the aero balance right.

"Right now, you just run single-file and you cannot get around the guy in front of you. You would have placed me in 20th place with 30 [laps] to go, I would have stayed there -- I wouldn't have moved up. It's just one of those things where track position is everything"

The first question a fan should ask themselves is whether Denny Hamlin is telling the truth, embellishing a half truth or simply lying because he doesn't like the car.

Lets analyze the statements line by line:

1) "I don't want to be the pessimist, but it did not race as good as our Gen-5 cars."

OK, that is an opinion, I don't see anything damning about that, he likes one car better than another, SO WHAT. We all make choices everyday, I personally like Hershey's chocolate better than M&M, does that make me a fan with an opinion detrimental to the sport, M&M is a race car sponsor, Hershey is not, I hope NASCAR doesn't fine me.

2) "This is more like what the Generation 5 was at the beginning. The teams hadn't figured out how to get the aero balance right."

Again, just a harmless opinion, he is talking about the Gen. 5 evolution as a race car and how it improved after everyone figured out the aero balance, actually I took that in a very positive way, he is saying that this car is not good now, but like the Gen. 5 will improve with time.

Whats wrong with that statement?

3) "Right now, you just run single-file and you cannot get around the guy in front of you."

Well I'll be darn, that is breaking news. Here is a quote by new fan (a grocery store check out conversation) who watched the race because of Danica. "......well I don't understand , all they did was just fallow in line , it was sort of boring after a while" not the exact quote but she made her point with an emphasis on- fallow in line and boring-. Maybe NASCAR should be concern about that and not what Hamlin is saying.

4) "You would have placed me in 20th place with 30 to go, I would have stayed there -- I wouldn't have moved up. It's just one of those things where track position is everything"

Is this a true statement? Honestly folks is there any crew chief, owner, mechanic, pit crew, SPEED Channel racing show, Fox sports TV announcer, fans or the family of possums living under turn two who didn't know the Gen. 6 car has a hard time passing a turtle and in most cases the only way to gain spots is by using track strategies after a caution from phantom debris, wrecks or gum wrappers.

Please NASCAR tell us WHO DOES NOT KNOW THAT ABOUT THIS GEN. 6 CAR! Are you kidding me, are you serious. What is Denny Hamlin telling us that we didn't already know? How are his statements a detriment to anything?

I would understand if he was telling some-kind of inside operational secret. He is not, Danny Hamlin's is simply stating the obvious, everybody knows this car looks good but does not do well at racing, the key word being RACING, after all it is an auto-racing venue.

Just guessing on the auto-racing venue.

If I were Hamlin I would just pay the fine and be quiet, just let them looks like fools in front of the fans, is never a good idea to fight the powers, specially when they got all the strings.

Some of Denny Hamlin's statements after the 25,000 dollar fine were unfortunate, I'm no expert PR man but I would tell him to apologize for those statements , blah blah blah, a few Hail-Mary's, you all know the gig, and just walk away from the controversy.

As always this is just a fans opinion and from what I understand everybody has one and I'm thankful for that.

Enough said.

I am not and will never be a Denny fan......however, he is right on this.......he is saying what the fans and the other drivers are thinking.......and he is saying it nicely.....the fine is nonsense......it is a sad day for the sport of Nascar, when drivers cannot voice their opinions on things, in a manner like Denny did..

I do not think that Denny should apologize for anything.....what does Nascar want?....drivers who only say fake positive things?

Denny is appealing this fine and even if he has to end up paying it, he is making a good point.
I wonder if Jimmie had said the same thing, if there would even be a fine..

At times is better to just let it go...just give NASCAR enough rope and they will hang themselves..today on the NASCAR NOW interview they sounded like idiots, nothing that NASCAR said made sense..just rambling on..

Denny was fined for telling the truth.. guess Nascar doesn't want criticism from the 'hired' help
