The Stack is at the Summit League tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, so unfortunately, I don't have a ton of time today to break down the big events from the weekend including Tiger Woods' win at Doral, the skirmish between Mexico and Canada in the World Baseball Classic or anything else. I promise I'll get to that later this week. Just a few quick mentions on the conference tournaments that begin today and the championship games tonight. So far conference championship predictions have not been good. Picked Charleston Southern and Wichita State yesterday, naturally Liberty and Creighton won. Oh well, that's this is the best time of the year. Here's what's piled up in "the stack" for today, Monday, March 11:
Mid-American Conference tournament preview
The MAC tournament begins today and it's a battle between Akron and Ohio as far as I'm concerned. Zeke Marshall is a stud of a big man in the post for Akron. However, of concern is the fact that Akron has lost two of three. Could leave the door open for Ohio, a very solid team. Whichever team wins the MAC out of these two could win at least one game in the tournament, at least that is what I'm predicting. I'll pick Akron to win.
Mid-Eastern tournament preview
The MEAC begins their tournament today and in this one, you have to take the team that was undefeated in conference play, Norfolk State. They upset #2 seed Missouri last year. Don't think something like that will happen this year, but they will win the MEAC championship.
Quick picks (championship games)
CAA (#3 James Madison vs. #1 Northeastern)
Pick: Northeastern
MAAC (#6 Manhattan vs. #4 Iona)
Pick: Iona
Socon (#3 College of Charleston vs. #1 Davidson)
Pick: Davidson
Sun Belt (#6 Western Kentucky vs. #4 Florida International)
Pick: Florida International
WCC (#2 St. Mary's vs. #1 Gonzaga)
Pick: Gonzaga
I promise there will be more and better posts this week. Little crunched on time.
Coming up tomorrow and later this week: College bball conference tournament previews and predictions plus other top stories that made headlines in sports.
