This is not a race report - it's strictly my view on the weekend of racing.

NATIONWIDE What more can be said about the Nationwide race than Kyle Larsen is the real deal? Everyone is all over him as a talent - and rightly so. I can not imagine having the skill, the maturity and ability this young man has. I was 25 years old before I first stepped into a race car - had one win in a Formula Ford regional race at Riverside International Raceway.

Formula One Kimi, the "Ice Man" comes through big time to trounce everyone in Australia in the LOTUS. Just how cool is that? But, I think Adrian Sutil in the Force India was the real story in seventh - along with his teammate deRista not far behind - both scoring Championship points. In my perspective, Sutil showed some great driving talent in the lead, holding off great cars and drivers. He may not be Championship material in the Force India but I believe will show well for himself throughout the season. Sorry, but Webber, even though they have some lame excuse, needs to go to "starting" school. It should have been Red Bull one and two at the start.

The sorry sort was Maldonado in the Williams - having been well beaten by rookie Valtteri Bottas. Pastor did nothing but whine all weekend. Get down, dude, and drive the car.

NASCAR at BRISTOl Oh, yes. The chick with the 'silver spoon', Danica Patrick, showed her skills at Bristol. What was it? Five laps down? The saving grace was the **** media had nothing to talk about - why? Because all she did was finish. Well, I guess that's something.

Feel so sorry for the NASCAR media "over" hypes. There just wasn't nothing they could talk about DP's performance. So, what do they do? They say nothing. How sweet of them.

Now. About real CUP racing - Kasey showed his talent at Bristol. Other guys got bad news - Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth - that sucked. Hamlin and Edwards continued to show us they have little at the end.

What thrilled me, even though he never got a single call throughout the race, which was extremely unfair, was AJ Allmendinger's 15th place finish. Especially considering he started in 29th, then whipped Harvick, Mears, Stenhouse Jr. and Logano - all on the lead lap.

Carl, the "fillip-a-roo" Edwards could do no better than 18th, a lap down. Way to be "Uncle Carl."

NASCAR's cream will always rise to the top. And, I describe "cream" as real men, honest men, guys that are true to "their school" and "true to life" - if you don't don't know what that means then you are without a "clue."

Not to nit pick, but it is Kyle Larsen. And I agree he is doing some amazing stuff so far this season. I know it is still early, but he has been impressive. I would have loved to have seen him pull the upset of the other Kyle, oh well there's always next week!

Sorry I don't follow F1 so I can't comment.

The Cup race was decent. I thought the radio coverage was better than what they were showing on TV, especially when the 43 wrecked when during the mid-race recap and they didn't show anything until that "important" recap was over. Granted I had the race muted on TV, I just watch for the wrecks, so maybe I missed something being said.

Thanks for the correction. I fixed it. Had Larson nipped KyB at the finish I would still be grinning from ear to ear. I love it when KyB gets beat fair and square - he gets so pouty and childish - it's fun to see a somewhat-grown man do the 'baby' thing.

Too bad you don't follow F1 because the racing has been really good the last season or so. All my racing experience (big deal - six or seven years is all) was in open wheel cars on road courses. Although four or five of us Formula Ford drivers back in the '70's did a test at the now defunct Irwindale paved bull-ring. Was interesting to say the least.

Thanks for your input.

Part of the problem for me to follow F1 is we don't get NBC Sports channel so there is no chance of watching the race.

I don't follow F1 either, but it is because of time constraints......I do watch Indy car periodically.

That NW race was good and so far each one has been better than the Cup race......First noticed Larson because of the Daytona fence episode, but have been watching him since then.....He seems hungry, with some good talent to back that up....so far......I like this driver.

Allmendinger is quietly getting his respect back and before he was suspended he had shown us that his talent was there and getting better......he will probably keep getting better.

I really like your definition of "cream" of the crop.

Agree with this.
