Spurs Big Three

By @CJ_H_12

The Spurs have won 4 championships since 1999. To me, this is a dynasty. If the 1980's Celtics are a dynasty (They only won 3 championships), then the Spurs deserve to be one too. Now that we have that clarified, we can get started.

The Spurs have had some bad luck when it comes to attention. They won their first championship in a lockout season when basketball was at an extreme low. Their next 3 championships were won with Tim Duncan, who is the absolute opposite of an attention hog.

The Spurs have also been known as the "boring" team of the NBA. Let's be honest, 75% of NBA fans like one on one and star vs star match ups. They don't want to watch the ball get passed around. Also, when your star is nicknamed "the Big Fundamental" you probably won't be very popular.

Since they are one of the greatest franchises of all time, I feel like I can't rip on them the whole time. I want to give some recognition to them.

Here is a list of some things I have to give credit to the Spurs for:

*They won 4 championships in a 7 year span

*They are constantly at the top of the Western Conference

*They are a team that can win by chemistry and not just talent

*Their defense is constantly great

Winning 4 championships is good enough, but doing it in seven years is just amazing.

Since 2001, the Spurs have been in 3rd or better place in the Western Conference standings (except for 2010). 4 times (And it may be five times after this season) they ended the regular season with the best record in the Western conference.

The Spurs could go one on one with Tony Parker vs the other point guard the whole game and win. However, the Spurs know better than this. Talent is great, but perfect chemistry can beat talent. The Spurs have had perfect chemistry and have succeeded for 14 years.

The Spurs (anchored by Tim Duncan) have been great on the defensive side of the ball. Between 1998 and 2009, the Spurs were in the top 3 (in the whole league) in opponents points per game average. Since 2010, the Spurs have been outside the top 10 (in the league) in opponents points per game average. Maybe that's why they haven't won a championship since 2007.

In conclusion, the Spurs are the most underrated dynasty in NBA history.
