AFTER THE DUST SETTLES
It's only after everyone has had their say that I like to add my two cents. NOTE: This is not a race report. I t's just the thoughts of an old "ex" race driver and racing magazine editor.
IndyCar Tacumo Sato, according to some, drove the 'perfect' race. I'll say this, "It was close enough to perfect for me." He drove with uncanny precision on one of the most difficult street courses in the world and never faltered to take the convincing win: A win AJ Foyt has been in quest of for more than 10 years.
I had the privilege of attending the first Long Beach Grand Prix in 1975 which was a Formula 5000 event. My magazine, FORMULA Magazine, did extensive coverage of the inaugural event complete with personal interviews of Dan Gurney and Chris Pook. The pre-race interview with Dan and Chris still thrives vividly in my feeble mind - "Oh the stories I could tell" - From some guy giving Dan the 'finger' for cutting him off on the freeway to Chris trying to get me to order "sweetbreads" for lunch. I passed.
NASCAR CUP If you don't get it by now then there is no hope for you. Joe Gibbs, the leader of "team whine" finally saw the writing on the wall. He needed another Bobby Labonte instead of three whining children. His passing off Logano to Penske and brought in a real, mature race car driver named Matt Kenseth, has provided dividends. Matt is driving way above the other two "team whine" drivers - KyB and and that guy that can't close, wait, wait, it's coming to me, oh yes, Denny Hamlin.
Please, don't make me puke. Danica Patrick - the "Queen" of the "buy a ride" showed she has nothing, nothing. Crap, I can drive around the track - which is about all she does.
In my opinion Danica has about the same level of credibility as Barrack Hussein Obama. Neither have the necessary experience or skill to get the job done.
Most Stupid Question On TV" When will Danica win her first race and at what track?" And D. Waltrip is incapable of answering the question truthfully.
