The Raiders lost a true champion today when it was announced that their CEO Amy Trask was resigning after spending over 25 years with the team.

"For over a quarter of a century, it was my honor and my privilege to work for the Raiders.  I will forever appreciate the opportunity afforded me by Al Davis," said Trask in an email to the team.  "I honored a commitment that I made to effectuate a smooth transition and transfer of control.  I no longer wish to remain with the organization."

Amy Trask was the first female team executive in NFL history and was the highest ranked female executive in the league. She was very close to Al Davis and defended the Raiders and their fans passionately and vehemently.

It was hard enough to imagine the Raiders without Mr. Davis.  It is equally hard to imagine the team without Ms. Trask.  She will be sorely missed.

According to Jim Trotter, Trask was told she would take a subordinate position under his ownership. She may have just said F it, I'm outta here as a result. But still, she bled silver and black, so it's really hard for me to imagine her anywhere else. Though I'm confident she will be hired somewhere as she had the respect of owners throughout the league.

Not really. Reggie has done a great job of ridding the team of the overpaid players on the roster. And he has done a good job in this past draft and signing free agents on the cheap.

Sorry to see a long time employee leave, but it was her choice.

Don't get me wrong, Al was a pioneer and a visionary in his prime. He engineered the NFL-AFL merger.First Black head coachFirst Female executiveFought the league and the city of Oakland to move to L.A.But in his last few years the game and the personnel got away from him.His coaching choices after 1993, with the exceptions of Gruden and Cable, were complete disasters. His draft picks and trades were not optimal, and he overpaid money and draft picks for mediocre to poor players. He undermined his coaches so much that the players had no discipline or respect fro the coaching staff. Problematic players could not be touched if they were Al's favorites.Al's control over every aspect of the team stifled it in these last 11 years.

First Hispanic head coach as well.

But yeah, you summed it up perfectly. Change needed to happen. I just hate losing Trask as she was a true Raider through and through.

Said Trask to ESPN/SI/whichever story you pulled quote from.

You always want to attribute where you got the quote since you didn't interview her.

Fixed. And thanks for being so condescending on a fan written blog.

She can join us here !

I just hope she doesn't end up on another AFC west team or the Niners. That would hurt.

Not condescending at all. Just helping you out.

Lighten up.

This blog isn't a journalistic aspiration, DJ. But 'thanks' for the 'help'.

I don't understand the full organizational structure. I'm assuming the CEO reports directly to the owner... and the GM reports directly to who? The CEO? Or is there another layer in there?

And I don't doubt that Amy Trask was excellent. But I believe - whether it was entirely her decision, or if she was forced to resign - that it is/was truly in the best interest of the team's future to continue with a full overhaul of the front office. They're making significant changes to the franchise's ways of doing things. It's a liability to keep someone as high ranking as the CEO around from the old regime; if the CEO doesn't fully embrace the franchise's new way of doing things, it all becomes empty rhetoric. I wish Ms Trask well, but it was a necessary move.
