He made it. Toronto Marlies head coach (or former head coach), Dallas Eakins has made to the NHL. Yesterday, the Edmonton Oilers announced that they've hired Eakins to be their new head coach. This guy deserves to be in the National Hockey League. I mean, this guy belongs in the National Hockey League and I think Edmonton is a perfect fit. While he was with the Marlies, Eakins proved that he could handle young players, such as Nazem Kadri. The Oilers have a whole slew of young players to work with, including Nail Yakupov and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Eakins even led the Marlies to the Calder Cup final in 2012. During the lockout, I was able to watch a quite a few Marlie games on TV. It was exiting hockey to watch. Adding Eakins to their coaching staff just might make the Oilers better. It can't any worse. Within the past three years in Edmonton has been at the bottom of the standings. GOOD LUCK DALLAS!
