This is just arrogance by a sport that knows it's the biggest and most successful entertainment venue in the history of American professional sports.

They most have a feeling of entitlement, they most think they can do anything, say anything and get away with it.

Folks there is nothing cute about a cartoon of a Native American Indian slapped on a helmet, there is nothing cute about a t-shirt with the word Redskins printed front and center.

What would happen if we changed the Chicago Bears to the Chicago Blackskins, you know to honor black folks around Chicago or the Cleveland Browns to the Cleveland Brownskins team so we can honor the large Puerto Rican community in the Cleveland area, could Mr. Goodell justify that.

They would not get away with that because there is lots of powerful black and brown voices in the media that would not let that happen.

The American Indian community don't have that kind of exposure.

Shame on black and brown athletes in professional sports for keeping their mouths shut on this subject.

As a Latino I find racism sickening and the fact the Washington franchise was the last team in the league to allow African American to play football should of given Roger "the dodger" Goodell a clue, shame on him.

As always this is a fans opinion and from what I understand everybody has one and I thank God for that.

Enough said .

I have talked to a few Indians.............Some for..........Some against.......

Until the fans stop supporting the team because of this issue.. things aren't going to change.. Snyder would be wise to change the name though.. now that the team is creating a little buzz with RG III.. just think of all the money he would make when fans would have to go and purchase new team merchandise and all that money that would go into his pocket

I don't get it, you "thank God" that "everybody has one (opinion)" but when someone differs with you (Goodell) they're "gutless?"

Why I support Snyder's & Goodell's position on "Redskins" name: I'm not persuaded that mere mention of skin color, in & of itself, connotes racism, especially when such mention, as in this case, the Redskins' moniker, is claimed by its supporters (Snyder / most DC fans) to convey or honor non-racist emotions like pride, respect and tradition.

Are there some knucklehead "Redkskins" (or any team) supporters who are racists? I'm sure there are, but I won't let a small sect dictate my own personal policy / opinion and ditch something that, as Roger Goodell believes, expresses positive feelings for a vast majority of fans.

As for the opinions of Indian tribal membership, that can be difficult to fully or accurately assertain sometimes, as I found out in reading up on the University of North Dakota "Fighting Sioux" case. Spirit Lake tribe's membership was allowed to vote ("endorsed" the name), the other, Standing Rock, only the elders voted (opposed it). Political and some inconsistent standards.

If I ever get the feeling a moniker is being used for racist or other bad purpose, or, is 'on its face' racist / bad, I'll oppose it. If not, I won't interfere or object.
