...there will be a combined team Finals record set.
According to NBA.com, the record for 3-point field goals made in a 7-game series is 51 made by the San Antonio Spurs and the Detroit Pistons in the 2005 NBA Finals. However, in the 2010 NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers combined for 68 3-pointers in their 7-game series, according to box scores on ESPN's website.
The Heat and the Spurs surpassed the 51 3-pointer mark of the 2005 Finals when they scored 59 3-pointers in Games 1-3 of the Finals. After Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals, the Heat and the Spurs already have scored a combined 107 3-pointers. Although Danny Green has captured most of the attention surrounding 3-ponters in the Finals, the Spurs and the Heat are close in in 3-point production with 55 and 52 respectively. The Heat actually have had more 3-pointers in three games in the Finals (8-7, Game 1; 11-9, Game 5; 11-5, Game 6) and tied the Spurs in 3-point production in Game 2 (10-10).
It is fitting that this epic series will have a place in NBA history.
