No one was giving the Jazz much of a chance coming into this series. Now I know why. When you shoot 27% in the opening quarter you won't beat anyone. That's right not even the dreadful Atlanta Hawks.
For the most part SAS picked apart the Jazz to the point the game was unwatchable. Yes, I heard the Jazz made a run at the end, but the game was already over. If the Jazz don't drastically change their game plan for Game 2 this series could be at the most 5 games.
I have never been a big fan of Tim Duncan, but I really think I need to cut the big guy some slack. He is definitely a unique ball player that will be remembered for years to come. This just in, WHEN the Spurs win the NBA Title, Duncan will have 4 rings. More than Kobe. Watching Duncan work in the post is so graceful. He moves with such ease. Though I have to contest refs seem to call a foul on the guys guarding Duncan the instant they look at him.
Andrei Kirilenko is the x-factor in this series. His D presence can make a big difference. In my opinion, which really has no value, AK-47 should guard Ginobili. Derek Fisher is quicker than Deron Williams so I was suprised Parker took him apart like he did. Fisher struggles again, throw Williams in there.
Make Duncan beat the Jazz by himself. Let Duncan do his thing, but stop Ginobili and Parker from getting in a rhythm. If Utah can suffocate at least one of those guys they have a shot.
...assuming they shoot better than 27% in the opening period...
San Antonio is winning Game 2. Just hope the Jazz make it a game because Game 3 is the real decider of the series. (Between you and me, I don't think the Jazz have the willpower to overcome a 2-0 deficit.)
