I am addicted to "America's Game" on the NFL Network.
The Network held a marathon of the program last weekend and I'm glad to say I had the presence of mind to DVR a bunch of them. Right now, I'm watching the 1985 Bears episode and it's just great.
Alec Baldwin is the narrator. Mike Singletary, Jim McMahon and Mike Ditka are the talking heads. It's a fantastic episode. Baldwin surprises me with his cool, nuanced narration and Ditka, in particular, is a spectacular commentator.
I could watch these shows all day. It's amazing how well they create a story out of each season of the NFL, often reaching back several years to gather up the threads that put the particular team in the position to win the big game.
The show is so good, it has even convinced my anti-football wife to sit down and watch with me. She likes it for the stories and the characters. I do too. But I also like the football.
I just don't like the commercials. The NFL Network has got to get better commercials. A show as good as "America's Game" deserves Super Bowl quality ads.
