As the Los Angeles Lakers continue their "Plan B" scenario, one thing is clear. Mitch Kupchak has done an excellent job of restacking the Lakers roster with vets and youth. Kupchak did not assemble a tank job team. With the signing of Wesley Johnson, Nick Young, Jordan Farmar, and Chris Kaman, the Lakers are looking more like a possible 6 ranked team in the west than a lotto team. For this writer R Kelly is the most intriguing. Kelly can shoot. The Lakers are deeper at the guard spot than they were last season. The key here is that Johnson and Young can play guard and some time this season you will see Kobe, Johnson, and young on the court at the same time. Add Kelly at the forward spot and you got four players that can hit threes. Add some meeks and Farmar for seasoning and you have a team that can hit threes. Kupchak may have done his best job to date and going into 2014-15 the best is yet to come.
The Lakers finally hire Kurt Rambis and Johnny Davis as assistant coaches. That gives the coaching staff some guys who can coach some defense and communicate better with players. The Lakers may be looking for one more forward.
