Now that it's official and Champ Car and the IRL have become one series, open wheel racing will finally have a chance at regaining some of it's former glory. Although the 2008 schedule is a bit cobbled together, and mainly pro IRL, 2009 can be the real building year for the series. Considering 2009 will mark the 100th anniversary of the building of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway it would be a perfect tribute to its founder. Then by 2011 the series should be well back on its way to respectability. Right in time for the Indy 500's 100th Anniversary!
To start that re-growth I'd like to see a 2009 24 race schedule something like this.
1. St. Pete (SC) March
2. Las Vegas (O) March
3. Long Beach (SC) April
4. Motegi (O) April
5. Mexico City (RC) April
6. Kansas (O) May
7. Indy 500 (O) May
8. Milwaukee (O) June
9. Cleveland (SC) June
10. Watkins Glen (RC) June
11. Nashville (O) June
12. Texas (O) July
13. Toronto (SC) July
14. Edmonton (SC) July
15. Portland (RC) August
16. Kentucky (O) August
17. Elkhart Lake (RC) August
18. Infineon (RC) August
19. Richmond (O) September
20. Belle Isle (SC) September
21. Chicago (O) September
22. Australia (SC) October
23. Laguna Seca (RC) October
24. Homestead (O) October
Breakup is;
