Just read on Yahoo sports that Kidd got traded to Dallas, about damn time:

Just what does this mean for the regular season and playoffs?
1. Dallas has just moved itself back into legitimate championship discussions. Even though Kidd is aging, he's still got phenomenal skills, but obviously it's only going to be like Shaq's situation - this year and next is going to be the window for a championship.
2. Dallas just sacrificed their future PG, a guy who could have led them for the next decade - Devin Harris is good and is going to become a great player. They MUST win a championship now that they gave up such a talented player.
3. Dirk and j-howard are going to love playing with Kidd. This is going to rejuvenate them and help them take the #1 Seed in the West.
Expected Playoff Seeding for the top Western Teams:
1] Dallas 2] Suns 3] Spurs 4] Lakers 5] New Orleans 6] Houston 7] Denver 8] Golden State
Western Conference Finals:
Dallas over Suns in 6 games
*I might be jumping the gun, but I really think this is going to make a huge difference for Dallas this year. Kidd is a much bigger addition than Shaq and it's on par with Gasol (at least for THIS year). Man the Western playoffs is going to be so much fun.

I think you have your seedings fairly correct. I do not think this deal gives the Mavs the West but they've done well for themselves.
