Diego Mejia is a Spanish speaking Motorsports writer, here is the bio posted on his blog:

"Engineer turned journalist with more than 10 years media experience covering motorsports, attending more than 100 Formula 1 Grand Prix, 100 NASCAR races, plus selected IndyCar, sports cars, rally and motorcycling international events. TV and radio content producer, reporter, commentator and writer. Avid cyclist, racing driver with six national auto racing titles."

The reason I posted that bio is not only because I wanted you to go and read some very good inside news on racing (in case you don't know him) but I also want you to understand that this is a serious journalist that has covered Juan Pablo Montoya for a long time. This is a 100% believable source.

According to the report Juan Pablo has been contacted by Furniture Row Racing this weekend and already had contact with Richard Childress racing , here is the quote from the article posted by Diego Mejia on his blog PARC FERME:

Not going to translate word by word, you can hit Google translate for that, it basically said that he will make a decision once all the cards are on the table.

I assume he is not ruling out Indy. Connie Montoya  tweeted that her husband is happy right now and that he races for fun and not for money. Juan Pablo has consistently stated that  all he wants is a winning car. I don't think where really matters to him.

I personally like to see him in this new Indy cars I think he would win a championship in a few years. One thing for sure the IRL really needs some aggressive competitors, you know, someone who can keep the conversation going, and as we all know there is no one better to -STIR THE POT- than one Juan Pablo Montoya.

As always this is a fan opinion and from what I understand everybody has one and I thank God for that.

Enough said.

Lost in translation ,,,is not an offer is an inquire..

August 25, 2013  09:32 PM ET

Translated.. he won't be in Nascar next year.. not with Furniture Row or Childress.. he likes beef tacos with hot picante sauce

August 26, 2013  10:44 PM ET

Juan is out om Cup next season. Childress is moving Austin up (I doubt he will go 4 cars again) and I don't see Furniture Row picking him up.

One name that has been mentioned before is Andretti, but what if it's not for a Indy ride, but a Cup ride? Michael has been wanting to move into NASCAR for a few years now, but sponsorship has been lacking. What if Andretti is banking on using Montoya (in a good way) to gain the sponsorship he needs, like going with a Latin America (Columbian maybe?) based company. Instant sponsor and a driver with a fan base. Win-Win for a startup team.

Your Comment: Fine example as to why folks have an image of NASCAR as being a bunch racist hilljacks...That is far from the truth but comments like your don't help NASCAR get rid of that image..Just saying..

2 questions

Does anyone think a one car operation at Furniture Row a step up from Ganassi? Or that they are the path to this winning equipment JPM is looking for?

And what the heck is a hilljack?

I want him to go to Indy as long as it is not with Chip.....Hey you never answered my question from the other blog I'll re post it:

Here the formula to be a great NASCAR driver:

Drive for the following teams or their satellites:

Hendrick
Gibbs
Roush
RCR
MWR
Stewart. (and if you don't believe this is a Sat. team, well lets sell you some swamp...lol)

If you don't run for one of those teams you wont be anywhere in the chase ..The exception Brad they might or might not make it this year.
What Chip has done in NASCAR is the best he can do with the team he has...like Juan said EGR has 170 folks Hendrick has 600...there is the story.
From talking to you all this years I know you are a knowledgeable man when it comes to NASCAR.
To go fast in any autoracing you need to have lots of money, I'm a dummy and I know that, If Ganassi had JJ and Gordon they would still be running high twenties and not make the chase...Period.
I seen some folks say that Kurt Busch goes to lower tier teams and does well, those folks need to look a little closer at what Kurt is bringing to those teams.
I am very happy Juan is out, Chip is loser in nascar and a Champion everywhere else, I don't see this changing.
I only expected Juan to run top 15 and make a few chases, I did not realize how bad this team is.

You mentioned four guys ...How many wins do they have all together in CUP? (not Nationwide)Have they ever made the chase?

Rhetorical questions... you know what I'm getting

1) Yes FRR is basically a RCR satellite team, share data , cars and engine etc here a little interesting note:
"Mark McArdle has left his post with Furniture Row Racing and will work full time as director of operations for RCR.
The move comes at a time when RCR is looking to fill the ride vacated by Kevin Harvick and hoping to retain its technical alliance with Furniture Row and is in exploratory discussions with JTG-Daugherty Racing to add the organization's No. 47 team to the fold as well."
There is a ride there somewhere. IF it pans out.
2) I have no idea I could not thing of another word,,,...lol I guess hillbilly...lol

August 27, 2013  12:36 AM ET

There is a big difference between buying equipment and being a satellite team. The share data like NFL owners share data. Like not at all. And they darn sure don't share engineers.

Even if it was indeed some magical sharing world, Furniture Row has very little money or sponsorships to pay for better equipment.

My point is that I believe Juan is finding any excuse to blame his poor performance on except the driver. And I don't think FRR is the utopia he would like to think it is.

And I'm not knocking FRR. They do a lot with what they have. And a big part of that was the driver who's leaving for a better situation.

August 27, 2013  02:48 PM ET

I question that various teams are interested in JPM.......maybe a couple but not too many.....and no, I do not know who they might be.

EGR to announce the replacement driver for the Target #42 this Friday Aug 30th......wait and see.

Sorry I missed this comment on the last post when FN was F'ed up and wouldn't let me see the second page of comments.

Vickers: 3 Wins in 273 races. Best points finish 12th in 2009. In Chase.

Sadler: 3 Wins in 431 races. Best points finish 9th in 2004. In Chase.

Smith: 1 Win in 171 races. Best points finish 24th in 2012. Arguably he should have won at Talladega, but a block by eventual winner Tony Stewart forced him below the yellow like and was subsequently place at the end of the lead lap (15th).

Hornish: 0 Wins in 130 races. Best points finish 28th in 2009.

Montoya: 2 Wins in 241 races. Best points finish 8th in 2009. In Chase

Yes there are no breakout Cup drivers on this list, but Hornish, Sadler, Smith, and Vickers are running well and rehabilitating their careers in Nationwide. Sadler has finished second in points 2 years in a row, and Vickers has recently been promoted back to Cup driving the 55 full time next year.

And your comment is what is wrong with this country.. when you can't poke a little fun at someone's nationality because everyone needs to be so PC and sensitive to other people's feelings.. people will think what they want about the sport no matter who is in the sport or what color skin they may have.. think people opinions have changed since JPM.. or Darrell Wallace have been in the sport??.. No.. how about when Wendell Scott was driving??.. No
