The winningest coach in college basketball history , Bobby Knight, has, officially, resigned from the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Does this mark the end of his long, miraculous career? Let's speculate.
He says that this doesn't mark the end, that he "still has ten years of coaching left in" him. That being said, I think it does mark the end of his career. Why? You ask. Isn't he true to his word? According to history, no. There have been many coaches who have said that they won't do something, then turn around and do it.
Bobby Petrino, Arkansas Razorbacks head coach. He has done this not once, but twice. Once when he said he wasn't leaving Louisville, then went to the Atlanta Falcons, then did the same thing with them, now he's in Arkansas!
Billy Donovan, Florida Gators head coach. He has only done this once. When he said he wasn't leaving Florida. He did, when he went to the Orlando Magic. I know he stayed there less than a day, but he still went.
Nick Saban, Alabama Crimson Tide head coach. Only once, but this was big. He said that he wouldn't leave the Dolphins, but went on to Alabama. Now players are calling him a quitter.
There are many more that I can list, but I just wanted to give you the main idea: coaches don't always tell the truth, especially successful ones.
If this is so long, we'll miss you, Bobby Knight.

Bring Coach Knight to Cal-Berkeley:
Hiring Bobby Knight would be the type of move that AD Sandy Barbour should make. Randy Bennett of Saint Mary's, or former Bruin coach,Steve Levy would be logical choices,but I'm pulling for Coach Knight, who would make Cal an exciting winner in a season or two. Besides, the great Pete Newell would appreciate his finest pupil coaching @ his former University.
