I finally got to starting blogging. So here we go. This isnt a personal attack on any particular person, its more of a group thing. Sox fans are the most annoying fans ever. They seriously piss me off sometimes. I am a Cubs fan. I just want to put that out there. Throughout my entire life, and a lot earlier than that, there has been this revialry that has escalating into somehting more. Sox fans, who no doubt started the fight, have ridiculed the cubs for being a team with a big salary that hasnt won it for a while. All of the "Wrigleyville is the world's biggest gay bar," and the Sosa Cork Co., and the "Hack Wilson is a fat bum, screw him" and the coup de grah of them all, the "Havent since 1908." For a while, it was a reasonably fair fight. We each had our two world series rings. Sure, we had the 1908 label, but heh; they threw a world series, so the fight was at least within reason. Then tragedy struck. Throughout, history, there have been times when the good guys were dealt a devastating blow; The Pearl Harbor attack, the death of Dumbledore, basically every Disney movie, and the death of Christ. But nothing compares to what happened on the late night of some day in October 2005 (actually, Christ's cruxificion is way more important than this. you get the idea.) The Chicago White Sox had brought the world series trophy to Chicago. While all of the sox fans cheered, us cubs fans went our cellars and cried ourselves to sleep (or at least I did.) Going to school the next day, I was hoping the whole world series thing would resolve our differences and hopefully we could channel this positive attitude towards cheering for a World Series title for the other team in Chicago. What a crock of crap. It is now ten times worse. Ive gotten spat on now for wearing a cubs shirt. The old jokes mentioned at the beginning of this rant rose exponentially in there use in arguements. And a cubs sox arguement would always end with "we won the world series in 2005." the who's better arguements were essentially reduced to nothing (like the Ottoman Empire). for lack of a better example, it's like in a presidential election where they eliminated california, new york, and illinois from the electoral college. How can the democrats win now? (democrats being the cubs, in a totally non-political comparison.) Sox fans like to point out the flaws in everyone of our stars. like Zambrano. yeah, he's a little insane, but that's what makes him great. and soriano. this comes up a lot also; how we wasted 130 million of soriano. he's not that bad; we should get some use out of him, at least for a few years (knocks on wood). the common stereotype sox fans have against cubs fans is that we're all a bunch of rich businessmen who go to the games to get drunk. We may get drunk a lot, but we're merry when were drunk. when sox fans get drunk, there's a tendency for first base coaches to get physically attacked. also, cubs fans are usually pretty knowledgable about the game. Sox fans; well, let's put it this way; a sox fan could tell you not only who's playing the cubs at what time and where, but he could also name both starters. however, ask him who the sox are playing, and they wont rightly know. Also, sox fans are basically the biggest fair weather fans ever. there's a sports store that i live near. Prior to 2005, there wasnt much sox stuff in their, for it wouldnt sell. when they did win, sox jerseys were flying off the shelf (if you dont believe me, go to a sox game and look at the fans who have jerseys. 5 bucks 9 out of 10 were purchased after they stole, excuse me, won the world series (the ball was in the frickin mitt. AJ is a bush-leaguer. Couldnt except the guy struck him out; had to pull the crap that little leaguers do and run out on strike three. what a chicken-**** play.)) The Wrigley Field is the biggest gay bar. that's the most retarded insult ever, i dont know why they embrace that. it's basically declaring to chicago "Hey, we have the maturity level of a bunch of sixth graders.' They also have a bullen with that level of playing ability (oh...burn.) the point is our burns make sense "More drive-bys than line-drives" It's not really true, but it actually makes sense. Your's has the burn level equal to that of a your mom burn, which involve no creativity and are quite stupid. Also, why did you move out of nice historic comiskey park into the new shitey comiskey, im sorry US Cellular. you guys sold out. It used to be about the game. You changed, man. We still have historic wrigley field, where families can feel safe from getting shot while going to a game. My point is not to put down sox fans; its to stop them from putting down us. after all, they without a doubt started it. Please, Cubs fans are humans, too. Do you think we enjoy watching our team make all the wrong off-season moves? Do you think we enjoy to see our prized pitchers get injured or suck? do you think we enjoy to see the Tribune co. suck the soul out of our franchise? Hath not a cubs fan eyes? Hath he not hands, feelings, expressions, demensions? If we win, are we not happy? If we lose do we not cry? And if a sox fan wrong us, shall we not revenge? If thou so do in your actions, ours will follow the likewise. So, in short, we're human. Treat us like humans. And Cubs; please win one for the tinker. Make it a fair fight again.

Heh, "death of Dumbledore"...

I can't believe in the list of insults nothing was said about Bartmen.

I'm a Mets fan, and I totally understand what you're saying, it's just that I have a thing against Phillies fans (well, only the jerks.).

One complaint: It would be a little easier to read if you split it into paragraphs.

February 15, 2008  10:56 PM ET

But seriously, all in all, I think it was a great blog and you really got your point out nicely.

February 15, 2008  11:03 PM ET

i dont understand...i put spaces between paragraphs when I originally wrote it...what am i doing wrong?

February 15, 2008  11:04 PM ET

i forgot about bartman. Thanks for reopening those old wounds, cheezhead.

February 16, 2008  09:33 AM ET

Well I really didn't mean to open wounds...but for the spacing...did you hit enter between paragraphs so there was a space? Or maybe you were doing a different style of format.

February 16, 2008  12:17 PM ET

Yes , I did. I hit return between paragraphs.

February 16, 2008  01:31 PM ET

I don't know...You know if you want more hits on this blog you can hit the "Share" button and send it to some of your groups.

February 16, 2008  01:31 PM ET

But don't send it to like 20, because then you'll get yelled at for spamming.

February 16, 2008  01:56 PM ET

It is a rivalry.UM and OSU is much worse.

February 16, 2008  05:03 PM ET

PWNED, NOOBS.

And by noobs, I mean White Sox fans.

February 16, 2008  05:05 PM ET

And by pwned, I mean pwned.

February 16, 2008  06:06 PM ET

I believe you meant to say, "Coup de grace." Sorry, but I am a linguist, after all. Now to get into the meat of thing.

I wholeheartedly agree. Out of all of the Sox "fans" I have met, only 1 person has been following them before 2005. He's actually a good guy, as well. He knows that I am a Cubs fan. He gives me grief every now and then. But it is all in good fun. He isn't like some of the ***holes who mean what they say when they insult us.

I can't stand AJ. That guy is a grade A prick and cheater. When I saw him run after Strike 3, I wanted to knock him out. He KNEW he was out. Yet he decided to resort to cheating in order to get on base. I can understand why Angels fans were so pissed off when AJ pulled that ****. I have no respect for him or Guillen. Nor do I have any for that damn announcer who said, "That's BS," when Uribe had very clearly stood in Pagan's way when he didn't have the ball, which was illegal. It was rightly called an obstruction, and the announcer flipped. He kept saying how it was the wrong call, and that Pagan was out, or that it was a "triple play." How the **** he got a triple play out of an obstruction call is beyond me. Anyway, when the unthinkable happened in 2005, I knew for sure that it was a dark and sad day for baseball. They cheated. Plain and simple. AJ was out, and the wagon jumpers cheered AJ on. It goes to show you what they think of cheating, or rather what they DON'T think of it, as long as one of their guys is the one doing the cheating.

Also, I am tired of the rich, drunk stereotype. I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination. Nor are my other friends who are Cubs fans. We also don't go to get drunk. If we go, then we go to watch the game. We can always drink at parties. Besides, I rarely drink anyways. I can't afford to, what with all of the bills and college expenses.

Finally, don't worry about the block of text. It doesn't matter how many times you enter paragraphs. When you look at the page that lists all of your blog entries, the paragraphs are shown. But when you look at a SPECIFIC blog entry, then you see a wall of text. It has happened to me before.

Exactly Cubs/bears, Like people want to go pay $60.00 for a ticket and $7.00 a beer to get drunk. Dumbest thing ever.
