The Texas State University Board of Regents make it official approving the increase in student athletic fees to pay for the move up to FBS football for the Bobcats.  There is still a long way to go but it is looking more and more like the Bobcats will be playing FBS football in the next five years or so.

Students are doing their part financially to make this happen, and so are alums with a recent one million dollar donation to the athletic department.  Now it's time to take the next step as far as fan support.

I have said it before and will say it again.  Two things need to happen to get an FBS conference interested in Texas State.  First the Bobcats must win and not just against Southland opponents but every time the Bobcats have a chance to beat someone from Conference USA or the Sunbelt or another FBS conference there needs to be a good showing and hopefully a win.  There are some excellent chances coming up to do that in softball, baseball and in football next fall.  Second the fans must show up in a big way for ALL sports.  This is especially important for basketball for the rest of this season and next season and for football in the fall.  The most important game that Texas State will have next season, as far as impressing a conference like CUSA, is against SMU.  Does Texas State need to win that game, not necessarily although it would be nice.  What Texas State has to do is be competitive on the scoreboard and fill as many seats as SMU offers the visitor and then some.

We are on our way Bobcat fans.  The dream of many of us is finally coming true after all these years.  Now it's time to show up and support the teams and be the example of how to build the next great FBS football power.
