In the Gospel of Matthew, Pontius Pilate washes his hands to show that he was not responsible for the execution of Jesus.
Did NASCAR performed a sort of washing of hands for Clint and Michael? Even though they gave MWR huge monetary and points deduction penalties, Clint Bowyer and team principal Michael Waltrip still get to participate in the chase. They are still in the game with an opportunity to win a championship.
What does that say to fans?
Should someone who allegedly has been caught trying to cheat be part of a major championship?
If there is no doubt in NASCAR's mind as to what happened why are those people not banned from the 2013 chase?
Are those fair questions ?
I don't believe reasonable folks think this is a serious penalty, the alleged guilty parties get a free out of jail card. I honestly can't look at this any other way.
As a new fan to the sport (seven years) I'm very disappointed by this decision, I don't get this. I Honestly don't see any difference between this and fixing a stick and ball game by purposely fumbling, committing fielding errors or missing shots.
It's a shame that one of the best NASCAR season I've ever seen in my short time as a fan has to be -PUNKED- and disrespected like this, shame on all that participated.
A very disappointed fan here NASCAR. I understand the bible reference was a little over the top but hey, it was the first thing that came into mind when I found out they were still eligible to win a championship. I most be in BIZZARO world, if you don't know what that is you need to look it up.
As always this is a fans opinion and from what I understand everybody has one and I'm thankful for that.
