After watching the New York Knicks lastest predictable shellacking, a 115-92 loss to Toronto, I've realized that Isiah Thomas is without a doubt, the most unappreciated genius the National Basketball Association has come to know. "Geez", you may be thinking. "This guy has really lost his mind." I assure you I have not. Explain you say? Explain I will...
Often times during the course of a Knicks telecast, a shot of Isiah, standing on the sideline, arms folded will appear on your television. This usually occurs after the Knicks give up an uncontested transition basket, commit an ugly turnover or any other mishap seen game in and game out with said team. However, upon further investigation, Isiah seems to have implemented some chaotically unique plays that willbring the rest of the NBA to its knees and expose the Knicks as the unstoppable force they will soon become!
One such maneuver is known around Madison Square Garden simply as "the Shot Clock Surprise." It involves a ballhandling guard, one such as Jamal Crawford, Stephon Marbury, Nate Robinson(whoever isnt verbally bashing the coach through the media at the time) bringing up the ball. The only other player involved is an overweight big man such as Eddy Curry or Zach Randolph. The ballhandling guard passes the ball to the overweight big, somewhere between 3 and 5 feet behind the 3-point line. The big puts the ball over his head as if looking to make an entry pass, but instead, hoists up a 3-pointer with about 18 seconds left on the shot clock. Thus, catching the unsuspecting defense off guard and securing easy points. Genius.
Another such play focuses on the rebounding aspect of the game. It is used both on the offensive AND defensive side of the ball-a revolutionary and groundbreaking accomplishment. On offense, it usually involves 5 players standing around, waiting for whoever has the ball to do something with it. No screens, no cuts, just complete stillness. Eventually, one of the players will throw up a contested shot. Although sometimes, miraculously, the shot will go in, its 5 foot guard Nate Robinsons job to secure the offensive rebound, thus ensuring another futile attempt to score. Such a play is also effective on defense, while Curry and Randolph slovenly stand at midcourt, Nate Robinson is again entrusted to secure any defensive rebound that may occur while the opposing team is on a 5 on 3 fast break. Collecting this rebound, ensures an easy two points on the other end of the floor, where Curry and Randolph enjoy a delicious pastrami sandwich.

I'm suprised Sloan, Jackson, and Pops hadn't thought of these plays already.
