A plea to TDers everywhere-
Stop wasting your first arguments!
Folks tune in to TDs becasue they want to read a debate. They want to understand the opinions of those involved an vote for the better side. Too many TDers these days set up scenarios with ridiculous rules including the all-too-common:
ARGUMENTS SECOND AND THIRD
Good voters don't vote based on list alone. So give us as much ammo as possible. Give us both barrels! You have a total of 3600 characters and with some exceptions, you should use them.
I can only assume that those who start throwdowns with that rule must be afraid that their first argument will be too weak to win. And if you're responding to a throwdown, why give up your first argument simply because the challenger chose to do so?
Following TD rules as defined by the TD creator is one thing, but no one should dictate how arguments should be laid out.
Let's start maximizing the quality of the debates and stop wasting the first arguments.
