Sorry that I've let the group down by not having more blogs lately, but with Spring Ball around the corner I'll get things going again.
I'll start out with the Combine performances of our guys, snagged from www.nfl.com .
Sam Keller- Not impressed with his accuracy. He has the arm strength to throw 50+ yards, but not the timing to have anybody there when the ball is. During WR drills, he was all over the place. He did do well in the 20 yard shuttle, but overall his stock dropped. Late round pick if any, most likely a free agent pick.
Maurice Purify- Had some excellent catches in the WR drills. Not fast enough tho'. Keller got to throw one to him and he made an excellent adjustment in the route to make the catch. I still see him in the 3rd to 4th round.
Steve Octavian- This guy made a lot of scouts look. Good speed, good hands, good bench-not great. He had a 4.67 time in the 40, which was the 8th fastest linebacker. He had 26 reps on the bench, and jumped 9'10" in the broad jump. Not bad overall.
Zack Bowman- Didn't perform as well as Octavian did. Some scouts are still concerned with his injury issues, so he may end up a free agent.
Carl Nicks- Did 31 reps on the bench and Jumped 9'1", pretty damn good for a 335lb lineman. The scouts are interested in his quickness off the ball and is a pretty sure 2nd to 3rd round pick.
I'll work on some stuff from Huskerland for the upcoming season soon.
