Steelers legendary announcer, Myron Cope, died today, at the young age of 79. He is a member of the Radio Hall of Fame, and he even has his own spot in the NFL Hall of Fame.
He is best known for coining the phrase "Immaculate Reception" and creating the Terrible Towel. While these are both great contributions, many Steelers fans have their own fond memories of him.
Before he retired in 2005, I would sit with family watching the Steelers games on Sundays. We always put the television on mute, so we could listen to Cope on the radio. Everyone in Pittsburgh loved this great man, more than many of the great players that came to play in Pittsburgh.
God bless you Myron Cope, your soul will carry on in the hearts of all of your fans, and we will never forget you.
