There are a lot of things happening in sports right now, and many different issues are being raised, so here's a quick and dirty 10 second rundown on some of the stories that caught my eye.

Roger Clemens - Who thinks he's lying? I'm trying to ignore the situation because I've definitely had enough, but I'd just like to say, regardless of right or wrong, any person who lugs around used syringes and stuff to keep for DNA evidence several years later is sick. Thank you to whichever Congress member gave him the verbal smackdown during the hearing. 

Derek Jeter said on the record that MLB could/should test for steroid use. The smart thing for baseball to do is get the non-users to all band together to say that, because they're the ones who'll benefit from taking away any unfair advantages some players have. Steroid users have better stats (or else they wouldn't need them!) and the good guys finish last, at least until Congress starts investigating.

Kelvin Sampson is out. Fine by me (not that I even knew who he was until a few weeks ago), because when we have coaches who don't follow rules and don't set good examples for their players we get situations like...

LSU and Alabama. There's still bitterness between the two schools because of the whole Nick Saban deal, but both teams are having problems keeping players in line. LSU QB Ryan Perrilloux is "no longer part of the team," at least for now. Alabama captain Rashad Johnson just got arrested, and Saban said the team needs to use better judgment. That's for sure. It's a problem not just at these schools but at many others where athletes let off-field problems keep them from even getting onto the field. Makes you really appreciate guys like...

Chris Long (UVA) who is being touted as one of the top picks in the NFL draft, who I've loved since Week 2   and who is one of those guys (at least so far) who makes you feel a little bit better about the overprivileged, overpaid sports culture which we all love anyway.
