Just finished watching the Lakers / Mavs game. Kind of disappointing performance by the Lakers. Dirk had a pretty bad game until the 4th quarter, and yet the Lakers couldn't put the Mavs away. Eric Dampier has 17 points and 16 rebounds??? And letting Dirk shoot a three at the end of regulation was such a bad play. Then Gasol fouling Kidd going to the hoop when he should have been given a concession basket. Yikes! The Lakers haven't impressed me as a smart team this year. They give up open three pointers when they are up by three all the time (remember the Detroit game?) If you want to win a title you have to play a lot smarter than that.

Also wondering if Fisher is hurt. He hasn't shot well the last few games, and Sasha and Farmar were out there in crunch time today. Oh well, at least they pulled it out. But it's giving me an ulcer to see them play so unintelligently!

Good blog.

Umm. I, myself, support the increased playing time of Vujacic , Farmar, and Walton. They are making drastic improvements, and despite today's game, the team is really starting to mesh.

Awesome blog - I'm a Lakers' fan.

Farmar will do well someday in Los Angeles.

LA will be fine, once they get back to playing hard defense. The last two weeks were against teams they felt they could outscore, which means they tried to do just that, out score them. Once they play teaks like Dallas, Portland like the other night, San Antonio and the Jazz, they'll come back to focusing on defense. It's hard for any team, outside the very disciplined Pistons and Spurs, to keep focusing on defense when they play Phoenix, Denver and Golden State. Besides, none of those power teams (Dallas, Spurs and Pistons) have the offensive skill players like in LA so they are not as seduced to run and gun as LA can be.

Point number two. With Ariza, Bynum and lately Radmonovich out, the Laker rotation is not as powerful as it could be. Imagine this team when healthy and Kobe not having to play 40 stressful minutes. Bynum will protect the middle and clean the boards, Radi at 6'10" will take forwards outside the three point line on offense and can stick with them on "D", Ariza is going to prove to be a great pick up for LA when he gets back and look at their bench without those guys, It's great! Name another team that has or is missing three starters and playing like LA has played?

Point # 3. If you noticed the 3rd quarter against Dallas the refs sucked and LA shot 6 for 22 yet still managed to find a way to beat a desperate, hungry, motivated Dallas team.

Point #4. LA is tired. Only the Spurs have had to endure the same torturous schedule in February and LA has played more away games than any contender, yet the keep winning. The only thing that concerns me is them staying healthy. If Bynum comes back all the way and Ariza too, LOOK OUT!

As for Fisher, I think he's tired and lost some of his confidence. He has not been the same since he hurt his foot during the Lakers second run with Shaq. However, We got a gem in Farmer so I say, let him play more. Go LA.

In Contrast to LA, look at Denver. Two starting all-stars and the defensive player of the year but they ain't going anywhere. the team that makes me nervous is Golden State. Baron Davis is the second most dangerous player in the NBA. In the East there are three really good teams in Boston (great defense), the Pistons (great defense) and now Cleveland. With their trade, I see Cleveland coming out of the East in an upset over Boston.

Great post.

Bynum should be better than ever!

I'm a Lakers fan and can hardly wait to see how they play when they get Bynum and Ariza back and hopefully everyone remains healthy.

As for all the trades, I sure am glad Gregg Popovich's desire to form and head an 'NBA Trade Committee' never happened...otherwise, the Spurs would be the only powerhouse in the NBA!

Go Lakers!
