Due to the increased traffic on the site, and volume of fanmail sent between you, the users, we have made some changes to how FanMail works. We will be rolling these changes out to the live servers shortly, but wanted to take a moment to make you aware of what they are.
When the changes go live, you’ll notice in your FanMail:
A User and Groups tab
Fanmail will now be sorted into 2 locations, peer to peer mail and mass mailings to a group. The Fanmail counter in the header will only count User mail; group mail will now be a bulletin style.
Group messages will now expire
After 7 days, group messages will be deleted.
Group messages will have more info
With this change, you can now see which group the message came from, and also how long it has before it expires.
User messages will stay the same
Nothing will change with how the User FanMail works; group messages will just be separate.
Finally, this is just the beginning of improvements to FanMail. We will be working to make this feature more robust and helpful over the coming year. As always, your feedback is a huge help in all our endeavors, so fire away!

Sounds like some good changes.
Does this mean that we'll be able to FM the FanNation Community without waiting a few decades for it to go through, or is that still a glitch to be worked out?

Gotta love changes. The groupings will be nice to see if you got mailed directly or as part of a group.

So when will fanmail have outward faced abilities, i.e. be able to use your fanmail as you email?

Step in the right direction ! Thank you !
will there be an option to save certain group messages???
can you move them from folder to folder ?
or. can you re-mail it to yourself as a peer message so that its not deleted?
what we need are folders to be able to sort the mail ..
also, any plans to allow sending to multiple groups at once and having the groups addressing code cross reference the group member lists so that a person only gets one message regardless of how many groups they're in ?

To answer the above questions...
At this time, we have no plans to allow FanMail to become an full fledged email account, it will always be for site communication only.
This should address the issue with the FanNation Community and other large groups.
Group messages will be bulletins, there will be no way to save them...I guess you could mail the same message to yourself, if need be.
Sending to multiple groups will not be part of this, and we're not sure if we'll support that functionality.
We will be continuing our work on FanMail over the year, this is just the first big step. We hope to roll this out tomorrow.
