To all who love the NCAA Bball Tourney!,

It's March 3rd!!! Which means it is time to start to focus on March Madness!!! So based on USA Weekend's Brian Tucker's Article, I will give my own spin and call it The Idiot's Guide To The NCAA Tournament Office Pool! This will be a 5 part series, with a new blog everyday with a new rule! So imagine yourself at the water hole at work. All of a sudden that new guy runs up to your face and shoves a bracket and demands that he gets your picks in 5 days. Don't worry! Just follow Rule #3 on Day 3 of Anthony E.'s Idiot Guide To The NCAA Tournament! (Not available in stores, but you can find it exclusively on the Big Ten Basketball's Group Blog for free!) and by the fifth day, you'll pick yourself a winner!

RULE #3: It's ok to go with the mascots if all else fails!

In the NCAA Tournament there are 64 teams. Oh wait, 65 before the play-in game is played. That's a crapload of teams there. Even the biggest buffs are human and can't possibly know about every single team. So a rookie like you? You're lucky if you know 10-12 of them. So go ahead and find their mascots, and go from there! (It's better than blindly guessing now isn't it? At least there is a logical pattern to this one!) For example, who do you think would win between a Georgia Bulldog and a North Carolina Tar Heel? Or the Stanford tree (what cardinal?) vs. the St. Louis Billiken? Or the Duke Blue Devils vs. the Wake Forest Deamon Deacons? And surprisingly you will realize that maybe more than 75% of the time this works! So hey your system is just as good as anyone else's best guess. So go ahead and take a shot!!

So there you have it. Day 3 Rule 3. You are now 3 steps closer to picking a winner! Tune in tommorow, same place, to get Rule 4!!!

(In no way are these rules a guarantee that you will pick a winner. Nor that you will win any type of monetary reimbursement for your time and lack of effort in filling out those lines with names you probably never heard of. But since you probably are NCAA TOURNEY-handicapped, what better option do you have? So try the Idiot's Guide!)
