Over the past 17 years of my life, I have known only one player to be quarterback of the Green Bay Packers. I have known nothing else, I have never heard a crowd cheer so loudly for one player, I have never seen another Packer wear that #4 jersey, I have never seen a QB play the game like he did.
He was my hero.
But this is an ode to you, Mr. #4. I will never forget the troubling and happy times we have both been through, the times WE ALL have been through togethor. From seeing your dad die, and coming out to play one of your greatest games ever. From watching you shave your head in honor of Diana getting cancer, to watching you cry at the end of last season. I was there, we were all there, we witnessed one of the greatest players of any sport walk onto a field and play the game. I will never forget.
The time you spent with the Packers was magical, winning 3 MVP's in a row, and winning the superbowl. But none of those accomplishments even compare to how you touched everyones heart and soul with your kindness towards children with diseases, to your kindness to the people in Green Bay and the state of Wisconsin. To your kindness you expressed to every player, friend or foe. I will never forget.
And as you walked off the field for the last time, no one thought it would be, but your heart told you what was right, and you did it. Forget the records, forget the wins, forget the game, you were one of the greatest PEOPLE on this earth, and I will miss you.
I will never forget YOU Brett Favre.
