To all who love the NCAA Bball Tourney!,
It's March 4rd!!! Which means it is time to start to focus on March Madness!!! So based on USA Weekend's Brian Tucker's Article, I will give my own spin and call it The Idiot's Guide To The NCAA Tournament Office Pool! This will be a 5 part series, with a new blog everyday with a new rule! So imagine yourself at the water hole at work. All of a sudden that new guy runs up to your face and shoves a bracket and demands that he gets your picks in 5 days. Don't worry! Just follow Rule #4 on Day 4 of Anthony E.'s Idiot Guide To The NCAA Tournament! (Not available in stores, but you can find it exclusively on the Big Ten Basketball's Group Blog for free!) and by the fifth day, you'll pick yourself a winner!
RULE #4: Go with who's hot towards the end of the season to win early...usually.
In NCAA Basketball, the season is somewhat long, and momentum shifts constantly as teams go on hot streaks and cold streaks. So by the end of the season, the teams that are hot, will most likely either stay hot, or go cold at tourney time. Here's where being an idiot kind of helps. For example, Memphis was undefeated for about 27 games before losing to Tennesee. Then Tennesee lost after they took the #1 spot. And all the while North Carolina was winning to climb back to #1. Make sense? No? Good. It shouldn't. And that is the reoccuring theme in the tourney...it's not always going to make sense but this is a good logical method. For example, the NY Giants got hot towards the end, and beat the NE Patriots who even though they won all their games, weren't really "hot" or on a tear like they were in the beginning and the Giants won the Super Bowl. It's kinda of the same thing for the early rounds. Pick some teams that are hot, and usually they will at least stay hot enough to win the first two rounds. Other else, if they go cold, hope you picked the upsets!
So there you have it. Day 4 Rule 4. You are now 3 steps closer to picking a winner! Tune in tommorow, same place, to get Rule 5!!!
(In no way are these rules a guarantee that you will pick a winner. Nor that you will win any type of monetary reimbursement for your time and lack of effort in filling out those lines with names you probably never heard of. But since you probably are NCAA TOURNEY-handicapped, what better option do you have? So try the Idiot's Guide!)
