While undoubtedly there are people that do not like or even hate the man but you probably will find them to be a minority among football fans in America. Brett Favre is the icon of football and is the last of an era that included the likes of Dan Marino, Steve Young, John Elway, and company.
While you could make the argument that this is Tom Brady's or Peyton Manning's league and has been for several years...it still doesnt sit right that the front runner of the league looked up to a man that is supposedly beneath him. Favre was the man and will always be the man in many fans eyes.
His saga will finally have an ending once his name is called in Canton but until then, you can already feel his void left in the NFL.
For those who question his decision that is fine but his 17 years and 277 consecutive starts is enough for him to earn the right to make whatever decision he feels is necessary.
And will he regrett it? of course. Anyone who has played the game through college...even high school...get that itch that burn that will never go away when football camp rolls around. He will always miss it and wonder "what if" but that is part of almost every player's retirement.
He will be missed
