Apparantly Madden Isn't the Only Guy Who Man-Loves Brett

I usually don't jump at oppritunites to go off on respected athletes, but I've been pushed to the point of insanity on this, and being a Bears fan before Favre even retired, I was already insane.

Favre retired on Tuesday. I was in a good mood and wrote "The Bears Fan's Psalm" thinking I would never have to deal with Favre ever again...

...but low and behold there are 50 people on this site talking about how fantastic Favre was. People saying "I miss him." or "Brett come back!". I even saw TD's that said 1. Favre's career stats will never be touched and 2. Favre is one of the greatest athletes ever. C'mon fans. You're better than that and you know it.

Favre was an amazing football player, but I swear some people are acting like this guy died or something!

So, the constant bickering about Favre and the annoying pleas for him to return were what drove me to create this group, mainly for Lions, Bears or Vikings fans, probably, or just for people who really are tired of hearing about Favre or are glad he's gone.

It's really ridiculous how some people are patronizing the guy like he fed the poor children in Africa or drove the snakes from Ireland. The guy was AN ATHLETE! AN ENTERTAINER!

And yet I see people saying how great of a person he was and how much they'll miss him.

I've had athletes I idolize but you don't see me on my knees when they leave and never come back. (ie Frank Thomas, Cade McNown (SARCASM), Bozo) Remember Bozo, Chicagoans? I grew to love watching him on Sundays, but that all came to an end when he retired. SOUND FAMILAR???

And just like kidney stones, all good things must pass, Favre worshipers.

Saint Brett has retired, but if you're upset you'll never see him play again, I'm at a loss for you. It's your own fault. Coulda Tivo'd him at least once in his 17 year career.

So let the Favre ripping begin. Really, I suppose we could make this a group where we can rip anyone we don't like. Why stop at Favre when we can include the likes of Stephen A Smith and Tony Kornheiser?

Just to let you all know, though. I don't hate Brett Favre or anything. He's just my favorite team's archenemy, and I've only written this because of some stupid things I've heard from Favre Lovers

Let me close this by saying one thing to clear up where I stand on this issue...

I'M GLAD HE'S GONE!

(above: Madden with his Shag Mobile. Favre is inside the Shag Mobile)

I hate John Madden with a motherf**king passion

We can add him to the Hate List if you'd like

Well let's call it a "Mega-Loathe" List. Hate's a powerful/hurtful word

TO, Bill Bilacheat and for god's sake could someone teach Emmit Smith how to speak. And you are right about Stephen A. Smith, i could strangle him.

Get used to it. Favre is one of the all-time greats. He will be missed whether you want to accept it or not. Bears' fans were the same way when Payton retired. Many of Favre's records will last for a long time. I never say never, but the players make so much money today, few will play long enough to even approach his records.

Hllywd, I am a bear fan and I couldn't agree with you more. Even though I got tired of the asskickings he was dealing out, I find it hard to HATE a guy that played the game the way he did. And there are plenty of guys that deserve to be hated.

Urlacher's been sleepin with the enemy! (Favre)

just kiddin. As a Bear's fan it is my duty to dislike Favre. I like him as a player, but the fact that he played for the Packers is the reason I loathe him so much. Maybe you'll understand that someday. haha.

As a bears fan I only recently began to respect favre - but it's good to see him go - unfortunately this season we are going to have to sit through brett favre montages all season still...

bears fans, he will easily be replaced by adrian peterson as our divisional arch-enemy

I would hold back on the AP thing for 2 or 3 more seasons. Favre played for a few years before we realized how much we despise him. Wait for AP to produce a lil bit more, and then I would say we could consider him as Favre's replacement.

Cade McNown? Did you seriously just bring up your feelings from when Cade McNown retired as if that gave you some frame of reference for this?

Okay. You just go ahead and keep thinking that you know what you're talking about. ...m'kay. Real good. You take care.

I also said Bozo. I thought that woulda shown to people with an IQ over 70 that that was supposed to be a joke. Sorry to confuse you, Curly.

Seriously? As a Chicago fan you missed Cade McNown?

You are correct about Urlacher sleeping with the enemy but not with Favre. My wife is a Packers fan and loves Favre. I'm not a real good loser so game days get pretty interesting in our house. The past few have been great!!!! I kind of like to rub it in when i win too.

I don't like it how people are glad he is one. Football lost one of the greatest players ever.
