Well, here's my first real blog post for the group. Since Antony E. has been writing Idiots Guides to the NCAA Tournament, I'll take the monopoly on "For Dummies". Hopefully, I'm not taking any of his tips, but I'll be making a similar blog. Here's my first tip:
#1: 12 Seeds to the Sweet 16 The 12 over 5 upset usually happens at least once, maybe twice a year. When this happens, though, you probably expect them to just peter out in the second round, right? Wrong. Of the 29 12-seeds to win in the first round (since 1985), or an average of 1.45 per year, when they play their round of 32 game, the 12 seeds are 14-15. That's almost .500, when these teams are usually playing great 4 seeds (but occasionally a 13). That's a scary number, and that means that if you take 2 12 seed upsets, which is perfectly okay, you should pick at least one to make the Sweet 16. And that means that when this happens, you'll look like a genius, even if you are a dummie at heart.
Well, there's my first tip. I'll be publishing more in the days before the tourny. Well, time to go, there's so much snow, I just saw a penguin walk by. Better go shovel.
