After losing to the St. Louis Cardinals in yesterday's game, the Dodgers captured a phenomenal victory over the "red birds," today. It was almost like a batting practice session for Los Angeles. The final of the slugfest was 20 to 6 - an early blowout favoring the Dodgers.

The Recap:

1) Hiroki Kuroda captured the win over the St. Louis Cardinals in two innings of work. The new pitcher gave up two earned-runs on five hits. Although he evidently has exceptional control on the ball, his pitching performance reminded me of the ex-Dodger, Kaz Ishii.

2) Rafael Furcal went two for three with a homerun and three RBIs. The shortstop is currently batting .250 during Spring Training. There was a rumor a while back that Nomar Garciaparra could switch back to shortstop, but right now that move seems quite unlikely.

3) Delwyn Young smacked a three-run homerun in today's game. With Ramon Martinez and Angel Chavez, it is evident that Los Angeles has a healthy supply of promising middle-infielders. Hopefully, we will see more of these young athletes later in the season.

4) Matt Kemp batted .500 in the game with two singles and three RBIs. The outfielder is now hitting .333 in Spring Training and ensuring his starting job in Right-Field on a daily basis. I'm glad to see that the speedy youngster is ready to take on a full-time role for the Dodgers' organization.

5) James Loney connected for two hits and knocked in two runs today. However, the first-baseman also made two errors. Hopefully, he will start to focus more on his fielding skills and not just work on his stellar hitting mechanisms.

The Dodgers captured a significant win today scoring twenty runs over the Cardinals. However, we will see their true strengths and weaknesses when they face off against the Boston Red Sox tomorrow.

It's surprising - but it just shows you that they have an decent offense.

sounds like some of the young guys are coming through for us. I can't believe Furcal hit a homerun, that's not really expected.
