Congrats, YNWA. We now have 4 members. Hooray!

Celtic and Liverpool both had busy weeks and both played well. Let's review:

Liverpool

Liverpool have had a very busy week. Dubai International Capital (DIC), who have been looking to by shares of Liverpool, have expressed interest to become the minority owner of Liverpool, owning 49% of shares, while Tom Hicks would become the majority owner, keeping his 50% and buying 1% of George Gillet's share. Gillett and Hicks, American owners of the Texas Rangers as well, are very unpopular with Liverpool fans and even Liverpool coach Rafa Benitez has expressed his anger with the owners.

Liverpool have also streghtened their chances of finishing in the top 4 by beating Newcastle 3-0 on Saturday, with goals from Jermaine Pennant, Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard. They are now tied with Everton with 56 points and share 4th place.

Celtic

Celtic's Euro dreams ended on Tuesday with their exit from the Uefa Champions League with a 1-0 loss to Barcelona at Camp Nou. Xavi scored in the 3rd minute for the Catalans, who controlled the ball for most of the 1st half. Celtic fought hard in the 2nd half, however, and came close to scoring a few times.

This can be seen as a positive, though, since now Celtic can rest and focus on the Scottish Cup and the SPL title.

Celtic faced Aberdeen on Sunday in the quarterfinal of the Scottish Cup at Pittodrie, as well. Celtic kept control for most of the game and got in a dozen shots, a few going off the crossbar, but Aberdeen went ahead in the 79th minute. It looked as if Celtic's exit from the Scottish Cup would be inevitable when Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink leveled in the 90th minute for the Bhoys. The replay will be played at Celtic Park, and the winner will play 1st Division squad Queen of the South.

Next week Celtic plays Dundee United at home on Wednesday and Motherwell at Fir Park on Saturday.

Liverpool will face Inter Milan in Italy in their hopes to progress in the Champions League, and are coming in with a 2-0 lead. On Saturday they face Reading at Anfield. I'll be back on Wednesday with results of both games.
