Sports Illustrated just ran another profile of Chris Long, the Virginia defensive end who could (fingers crossed!) be the #1 pick in the NFL draft.
I'm a UVA fan, so I've been watching - and adoring - him for a few seasons. (Ferocious on the field, big muscles, and curly blond hair...what's not to love??) This year, the media started paying attention and now they can't get enough of him. First they drew the comparisons to dad Howie; now they're fond of talking incessantly about how he doesn't want to be recognized for family connections, but for his play.
In all the pieces I've read, Chris comes across as well-spoken and media saavy, and then of course there's the dad connection and his undeniable talent (not to mention those that's got the magazines and newspapers all over him like bees to honey. His little brothers could be the Next Big Things (in baseball and lacrosse) but for right now, the spotlight belongs to Chris, which is more than okay with me.
