Another offseason has come before us. Many moves by many teams have been made.
Some that stand out: the signing of Asante Samuel by the Eagles, the trade of Jonathan Vilma to the Saints, the Shaun Rogers trade to Cleveland. Many moves, indeed.
Of course, there is still much to be done. We still have my favorite, the draft, in April. Here I have provided a short mock, complete with team jerseys.
Okay, maybe not so short...the complete first round! Yeah!
With the 1st pick in the 2008 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins select...
Chris Long, defensive end, Virginia
Long is the perfect player for the Dolphins. He can rush the passer and provides support against the run. He's a high-energy guy. I love this pick.
The St. Louis Rams select...
Glenn Dorsey, defensive tackle, LSU
Dorsey would greatly help the Rams' defense. The defensive line was atrocious last year. Dorsey would be an immediate improvement for these perennial losers on defense. Jake Long is also an option.
The Atlanta Falcons select...
Matt Ryan, quarterback, Boston College
The Falcons are in a state of disarray. Ryan immediately helps him. He could step in as the starter from Day 1. He does not have the strongest arm, but he has good accuracy. He would be the guy the Falcons build around.
The Oakland Raiders select...
Darren McFadden, running back, Arkansas
Although this is not the right pick, this is what I believe Al Davis will do. Pick the flashiest player instead of addressing needs. McFadden would be great in the future with JaMarcus Russell, and might be an early Rookie of the Year candidate.
The Kansas City Chiefs select...
Jake Long, offensive tackle, Michigan
Fantastic pick for the Chiefs. Their offensive line, once their strength, is now their weakness. Long is an NFL-ready prospect who is the most complete lineman in the draft. He is a bulldozer in the run game and is solid in the passing game as well.
The New York Jets select...
Vernon Gholston, defensive end, Ohio State
I've had Gholston going here since before the combine. He could go to St. Louis, but that's doubtful. He's a rare physical specimen and had an outstanding combine. He could be gone by here.
The New England Patriots select...
Leodis McKelvin, cornerback, Troy State
McKelvin or Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie could go here. But I've had McKelvin here for a month now, and here he stays. With the departures of Asante Samuel and Randall Gay, the Pats desperately need some secondary help. McKelvin fits the bill.
The Baltimore Ravens select...
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, cornerback, Tennessee State
Rodgers-Cromartie is an incredible talent whose stock has risen considerably. The Ravens need a QB, but it's too early for Brian Brohm and Ryan is off the board. Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle are aging and won't be around much longer.
The Cincinnati Bengals select...
Sedrick Ellis, defensive tackle, USC
Ellis' stock has risen since the Senior Bowl, where he aboslutely dominated. He could either go here, to the Chiefs, the Rams, or the Falcons. I say here, he'd be a great fit in Cincy.
The New Orleans Saints select...
Mike Jenkins, cornerback, South Florida
I had Kenny Phillips here before, but his stock has dropped. Mike Jenkins will immediately upgrade the atrocious New Orleans secondary.
The Buffalo Bills select...
Malcolm Kelly, wide receiver, Oklahoma
Kelly would be a great complement to the speedy Lee Evans. The Bills' receiving core is a disgrace.
The Denver Broncos select...
Keith Rivers, linebacker, USC
With the release of Ian Gold, the Broncos need a complete linebacker to replace him. Rivers might be the Defensive Rookie of the Year.
The Carolina Panthers select...
Ryan Clady, offensive tackle, Boise State
Clady is an absolute monster who could go as high as to Kansas City at 5. Here, he falls, and the Panthers get a future great.
The Chicago Bears select...
Chris Williams, offensive tackle, Vanderbilt
Fred Miller was cut and this offensive line isn't what it once was. Williams will help the Bears in the future.
The Detroit Lions select...
Rashard Mendenhall, running back, Illinois
Mendenhall would immediately upgrade the Lions' horrible run game. Kevin Jones? Tatum Bell? Don't think so.
The Arizona Cardinals select...
Antoine Cason, cornerback, Arizona
Cason would help right away. His presence at corner will allow the Cardinals to move Antrel Rolle to free safety, where he's better suited.
The Minnesota Vikings select...
Derrick Harvey, defensive end, Florida
Harvey or Phillip Merling could go here. I just like Harvey better.
The Houston Texans select...
Jonathan Stewart, running back, Oregon
If Stewart is still on the board, the Texans will take him. He's too good a talent to pass up. Ron Dayne and Ahman Green are done, and Darius Walker is not a feature back.
The Phiadelphia Eagles select...
Jeff Otah, offensive tackle, Pittsburgh
Jon Runyan and William Thomas are aging. Otah would be a great replacement when they decide to hang 'em up.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select...
Brian Brohm, quarterback, Louisville
Jeff Garcia is one of the oldest NFL players. He won't be around much longer. Brohm will lead Tampa Bay in the future.
The Washington Redskins select...
Phillip Merling, defensive end, Clemson
Calais Campbell sucked himself out of the first round with a terrible pro day. So Merling goes here. With literally nothing at DE, Merling is a great pick for Washington.
The Dallas Cowboys select...
DeSean Jackson, wide receiver, California
T.O. is great, but he's getting old. Terry Glenn is done. So Jackson makes sense here. Limas Sweed is a possibility.
The Pittsburgh Steelers select...
Branden Albert, guard, Virginia
The guard class isn''t very deep, but Pittsburgh gets the best of the bunch. He'll be a solid replacement for Alan Faneca.
The Tennessee Titans select...
Limas Sweed, wide receiver, Texas
Vince Young has no receivers. Their #1 was Brandon Jones. WHO? Sweed will fix that.
The Seattle Seahawks select...
Felix Jones, running back, Arkansas
Yes, he had a disappointing combine, but Jones is still a good talent here. Shaun Alexander is likely to be cut, and Jones is a good, young replacement.
The Jacksonville Jaguars select...
Kentwan Balmer, defensive tackle, North Carolina
A little bit of a reach, but Marcus Stroud is gone. Balmer would make a nice replacement.
The San Diego Chargers select...
Kenny Phillips, free safety, Miami
Two options here. A safety, or a tackle. I say Kenny Phillips. He's a playmaker.
The Dallas Cowboys select...
Aqib Talib, cornerback, Kansas
The 'Boys need some youth at corner. Terence Newman and Anthony Henry are not what the used to be. Talib is perfect for Dallas.
The San Francisco 49ers select...
Quentin Groves, defensive end, Auburn
Groves is too small to be DE in the NFL, but he'd make a great outside linebacker in a 3-4. The 49ers will love this kid.
The Green Bay Packers select...
Brandon Flowers, cornerback, Virginia Tech
Al Harris was killed in the NFC Championship. Flowers will be a great player for the Packers when Harris retires.
The New England Patriots select...
A New Camera.
This will fill a huge need for New England. They can't live without that camera.
The New York Giants select...
Dan Connor, linebacker, Penn State
The Giants don't have alot of needs. But if Mike Strahan retires, Connor would be a great replacement on the strongside for Mathias Kiwanuka, who could slide back into the DE spot.
That was the hardest I've ever worked on a blog. Hope you enjoyed it.

Other then the Seahawks picking Felix Jones, I have no problem with this. Considering that the 'hawks have signed Duckett and Julius Jones I just can't see them using a first rounder on a running back.
Nice touch with the jerseys. I enjoyed this.

By the way: If you think McFadden will be a Jet, what's up with you giving him to the Raiders?

I WISH he'd be a Jet. But I think he'll be a Raider.

Good point. McKelvin or Rodgers-Cromartie could definitely go at 6.

Nice blog. Time well spent.
I could see the Raiders picking McFadden as well. He could be the next Adrian Peterson. I wouldn't mind if the Giants got Connor. He's a good hitter.

Hey erwin, I like your pick for the Broncos. We do need a linebacker to replace Gold, but Keith Rivers at 12th? I was thinking Clady in the first round and Rivers in the second...

Rivers' stock has risen, I wouldn't be surprised if he went to Cincinnati at 9...

BUT THE BEARS NEED A QB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
They had better not take a defensive player or an o-lineman. Or a TE.

I know they need a QB. A while ago I had Andre Woodson there. Unfortunately he sucked and droppped to a late second round pick at best. Brian Brohm is dropping into the 20s, while Flacco has shown he's got talent but 14 is too early.

They might be able to nab Flacco in round 2.
