10:46 AM ET 09.30 | Matt Flynn is a Horrible QB and Does Not Belong in the NFL Ok, maybe that's a bit harsh. It's also not that far off though. The Raiders lost a game yesterday that by all means should have been a "W", and no doubt would have been a W if Terrelle Pryor were playing. The Nation's hopes were high on Saturday when we learned TP was good to go, but those hopes were dashed late Saturday night when he started showing more concussion symptoms (apparently an aversion to light). So the Raiders had to go with Flynn, the QB they acquired in the offseason to be the #1 guy - what could go wrong with that? Everything started out great as the Raiders jumped to a 14-0 lead, thanks to a blocked punt that Jeremy Stewart fell on in the end zone, and Flynn actually looking pretty solid leading a TD drive shortly thereafter. But that drive would also mark the last time all day we would see Darren McFadden (hamstring) and then we lost Marcel Reece as well. Without an effective runner, Washington's D feasted on poor Flynn, finishing the day with 7 sacks. Flynn's lack of mobility and lack of just vision in seeing the field seemed to "hamstring" the Raiders offense. I can't recall a single time after the 1st quarter he successfully threw the ball more than 5 yards downfield, and in the 2nd quarter threw a Marc Wilson-esque pick 6. When we needed yards, Flynn couldn't get them. Eventually the defense broke down, the cumulative effect of an offense that could not move the ball. Skins win 24-14. I still hate seeing Shanahan beat us. Flynn was just pathetic, I don't care what his numbers might say. I can't imagine this season if we had to put up with his ineptitude all year, and thank goodness TP stepped up his game this year and won the job. Allen says TP should be ready for San Diego next week, and we will for sure need him to have any shot at all in that game. We'll find out later today the severity of the other injuries, hopefully McFadden will be good to go, on a team with virtually no depth whatsoever (particularly on offense) we need McFadden to stop being McFadden and actually be ready to go on Sunday. (we await MLB's decision on what time the A's play Saturday. Might be an 8:30PT start.) The Raiders remaining opponents are a combined 26-22 this year. Out of those only Denver looks untouchable. We should be able to get a few more wins this year, but definitely we need Terrelle Pryor and not Matt Flynn out there. Flynn is an absolute waste of a roster spot. His millions may be guaranteed at this point, but I wouldn't mind we cut him now and bring in Wilson from the Practice Squad. This will definitely be Flynn's first and last year in silver and black.
