Bayern Up to Speed

This being my first blog here I thought I would update the world on where FC Bayern is right now.

Bayern blasted out of the start of the Bundesliga season with 3 wins totalling 10 goals for and none against. The Reds continued their winning ways without losing a game until the 13th week. It appears that 13 has not been their lucky number as of late (leave of Ballack). The teams success has been mixed since week 13. Granted the team has not suffered another loss but a handful of draws with quesitonable Bunesliga clubs' like Duisburg, Berlin and Dortmund have the left the most successful club In german history exchaning the league leadership a few times.

As it stands now Munich is on top of the Bundesliga with 50 points--a 7 point lead over chasing Bremen and 8 point lead over northern rivals Hamburger SV. But Bayern's success hasn't been restricted to league play. With a miserable 4th place finish last year the Reds earned themselves a spot in UEFA--Europes' second class tournament to the Champions League. Bayern were undefeated in the group stage and only suffered their first loss this week to Belgian giants Anderlecht. However, Bayern's impressive 5-0 away victory over Anderlecht meant Bayenr took the home-away series with a 6-2 victory on aggregate and thus propelling FC Bayern to the UEFA quarter finals.

Returning to the Bundesliga we see the Bavarian record holders earning comfortable wins in the DFP Pokal--the cross nation tournament like the FA Cup in England. Bayern face VL Wolfsburg in the semi's of the Pokal and could go on to the finals in Berlin this February. If the Reds continue their winning ways they will completed the German treblle--winning the league, winning the Pokal, winning the Liga Pokal. If they get all three they could go for one more and connect four with a UEFA championship under their belts as well. Only time will tell if the Bavarian giants will complete a remarkable task this year after such a poor finish last season.

thanks for the update. Good stuff

I agree. The only other problem left in UEFA is Rangers as they have been tearing it up in Scotland. Bayern has had mixed success against Russian teams as well and Zenit is definitely the Cinderella story this year.

I just saw them lose to Energie Cottbus 2-0 over the weekend. Kind of a strange time to blog about how things are going right, but thats just me. Sure they will win the Bundisliga, but that would be like sticking AC Milan into the Serie B, they gulf in class is pretty wide and they league itself isn't as competitive as other leagues.

^ Sorry man but the Rangers are having a sparkling season in the SPL and in UEFA right now. They are leading the league, won the cup and are still in UEFA. Sorry Stauff.

Yes. Bayern did drop 2-0 to Cottbus but it's only their 2nd loss of the season. I can't remember if I blogged this before it happened. Anyways, winning the Bundesliga isnt' that easy of a task. Bremen and Schalke have been strong as of late and Leverkusen and Dortmund have been traditional contenders.
