Though six teams were on the bye, there were some amazing performances in week 8 in the NFL. The Stack is here to talk about it all so let's get right to some reaction from Sunday's NFL action in "the stack" for today, Monday, October 28:
Detroit 31 Dallas 30
Most people expected a shootout in this one. It only took until the fourth quarter, but the Cowboys and Lions delivered. With the Cowboys up six, the Lions were masterful in executing the two-minute drill with Matthew Stafford delivering the winning touchdown when he leaped over and stretched the ball across the goaline, but really the story is about Calvin Johnson. All Megatron had was 14 receptions for 329 yards!! He also had a touchdown. Magnificent performance. Simply astounding. And someone needs to tell Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant to chill. He's borderline psycho.
San Francisco 42 Jacksonville 10
Thanks San Francisco for proving to London that the NFL does actually have good NFL teams. Then again, anyone would look good playing against the Jaguars.
Kansas City 23 Cleveland 17
The Chiefs are still undefeated though they really have to work for it in games just like this one. The Browns seem to have made a good decision to go to Jason Campbell who moved the ball nicely for the Browns offense. The Chiefs though undefeated for a reason, coming up with big stops when they need them. One of the many reasons they are 8-0.
New England 27 Miami 17
When you hold Tom Brady to 116 yards passing, you should win almost every game against the Patriots. Then again, when you make as many mistakes as the Dolphins did Sunday, it's pretty easy to lose. The Dolphins for all of their big name free agents, are starting to become a major disappointment.
New Orleans 35 Buffalo 17
This game might have been closer and Drew Brees may not have thrown five touchdowns if the Bills weren't losing defensive players left and right. Jimmy Graham looked pretty good with two touchdown receptions. The Saints are fastly becoming a favorite to win the NFC with how they've been playing this year.
New York Giants 15 Philadelphia 7
Look out NFC East. The Giants are just two games back of the division lead after a big win on the road over the Eagles who have now suffered ten straight home losses. Let that one sink in. Michael Vick reaggrivated his hamstring injury and that pretty much doomed the Eagles chances. The NFC East is pretty bad.
Cincinnati 49 New York Jets 9
If you had Andy Dalton throwing five touchdowns and 325 yards and wide receiver Marvin Jones catching four touchdowns and 122 yards, can I have the winning powerball numbers for Wednesday night? Once again the Jets follow up a big win with a bad loss.
Oakland 21 Pittsburgh 18
Terrelle Pryor set an NFL record with his 93-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. No quarterback had ever run a touchdown as long. Plus it's now a new Raiders record. He didn't do much the rest of the game, but that sort of play jumpstart the Raiders against the Steelers and they never looked back.
Arizona 27 Atlanta 13
I know he is missing a ton of weapons from his starting lineup and I know Arizona's defense is good, but seriously Matt Ryan? Four interceptions? Atlanta's hopes at the playoffs are all but gone at this point. Their defense is suspect at best. Arizona may have found their future running back in Andre Ellington. 154 yards and a touchdown on fifteen carries? Not bad. Not bad at all.
Denver 45 Washington 21
Fear not Broncos fans. When your team is down 21-7 in the third quarter and you have Peyton Manning, you're not out of it. The Broncos rattled off 38 straight points for the win. Washington has to be concerned with the number of hits RGIII took in this game and his injury. That will not help Washington in a division that looks very winnable considering how bad they've played so far this year.
Green Bay 44 Minnesota 31
What can you say about Aaron Rodgers that hasn't already been said? He was masterful against the Vikings (though that doesn't take much). The Vikings are an embarrassment on the national stage. Don't know what needs to be done, but Vikings fans are getting pretty sick and tired of this crap. Green Bay and Detroit look like they are going to have a pretty good battle to see who wins the NFC North.
Seattle Seahawks @ St. Louis Rams 8:40 PM ET ESPN
In case you didn't know, game five of the World Series is tomorrow night in St. Louis. So the Edward Jones Dome is going to be pretty empty I've got a feeling. Even fewer people in St. Louis will watch the game. Plus with Kellen Clemens starting at quarterback, it's not like the Rams have much of a chance against Seattle's defense.
Prediciton: Seahawks 27 Rams 7
Coming up Tuesday: World Series game 5 reaction, MNF reaction, NFL power rankings and more.
