Stack Attack's Blog

It's Football Friday and that means it's time for The Stack to preview the upcoming week in the NFL.  Week 9 has not gotten off to a good start as my pick of the Bengals lost in overtime to the Miami Dolphins last night 22-20.  The game ended on a safety for crying out loud!  Andy Dalton had a rough game with three picks and a lost fumble.  Not good, Dalton.  Bengals are still 6-3.  They'll be ok.  Big, perhaps season saving win for the Dolphins. Room for improvement for sure.  Let's get right to some previews and predictions in "the stack" for today, Friday, November 1:

Kansas City Chiefs @ Buffalo Bills 1:00 PM ET CBS

The Chiefs have been toying with a loss the last couple of weeks, but they prevail.  The Bills will definitely give them a game, but if Thad Lewis can't go, I don't have faith that Matt Flynn or Jeff Tuel can do the job.  Sounds like Lewis might not play.

Prediction: Chiefs 23 Bills 16

Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers 1:00 PM ET FOX

The Falcons season is as good as gone after last week's loss, but that could change slightly with a road win against the Panthers.  They've been hit hard by injuries this year and it sounds like Roddy White will miss another game.  The Panthes welcome back Jonathan Stewart.  Add him to the mix of DeAngelo Williams and Matt Tolbert and the Panthers running game is going to be difficult to stop.  The Falcons can't stop the run.  Mismatch!

Prediction: Panthers 27 Falcons 20

Minnesota Vikings @ Dallas Cowboys 1:00 PM ET FOX

The Vikings are absolutely terrible at getting off the field on third down.  The Packers went 13-18 against them on third and fourth down last week.  The Cowboys can't be feeling great after last week's crushing defeat against the Lions, but if they lose to the Vikings, who haven't even named their starting quarterback yet, your season deserves to be done.

Prediction: Cowboys 41 Vikings 17

New Orleans Saints @ New York Jets 1:00 PM ET FOX

The Jets gave up 325 yards and five touchdowns to Andy Dalton last week.  Now Drew Brees and the Saints come to town.  Good luck stopping him.

Prediction: Saints 31 Jets 20

Tennessee Titans @ St. Louis Rams 1:00 PM ET CBS

Rematch of the thrilling 1999 Super Bowl.  Jeff Fisher goes against his former team.  The Rams were stopped at the one-yard line last week and lost to the Seahawks.  Wouldn't it be great if they stop the Titans on the one-yard line in to end the game just like the Super Bowl?

Prediction: Rams 23 Titans 16

San Diego Chargers @ Washington Redskins 1:00 PM ET CBS

The Chargers are well rested after their bye, but they have to fly cross country again!  This will be the fourth time they've had to do that this year.  They're 2-1 so far.  I see 3-1 happening.  RGIII will have a good game, but not enough to knock off the Chargers.

Prediction: Chargers 30 Redskins 24

Philadelphia Eagles @ Oakland Raiders 4:05 PM ET FOX

Nick Foles is likely to get the start for the Eagles.  He didn't look great his last time out against the Cowboys.  The Raiders aren't as good as the Cowboys, but they're better than the Bucs team that Foles beat earlier.  They'll make things difficult for Foles.  For the Eagles to win, LeSean McCoy must have a big game.  The Eagles defense may have issues stopping Terrelle Pryor though.

Prediction: Raiders 23 Eagles 20

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Seattle Seahawks 4:05 PM ET FOX

The Seahawks have lost Sidney Rice for the year and Percy Harvin isn't going to be back this week.  Good thing they get to play Tampa Bay.

Prediction: Seahawks 27 Bucs 10

Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns 4:25 PM ET CBS

Battle of Cleveland's old and hated team versus Cleveland's new team.  The Ravens haven't been themselves this year and Terrell Suggs said the team needs to figure it out after the bye week.  I really want to take the Browns in this one and won't be surprised at all if they win, but something tells me that at least for one week, the Ravens figure it out and get a win.

Prediction: Ravens 26 Browns 20

Pittsburgh Steelers @ New England Patriots 4:25 PM ET CBS

The Patriots continue to find ways to win.  Very resilient bunch.  This week they get the disappointing Steelers.  The Patriots once again will find a way to win and Tom Brady will throw for more than 116 yards.

Prediction: Patriots 27 Steelers 16

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans 8:30 PM ET NBC

This is it for the Houston Texans.  They must win this game if they hope to have any shot at the playoffs.  Their fate falls in the hands of rookie quarterback Case Keenum.  Forunately, it sounds Arian Foster and Ben Tate will be able to play.  The Colts will be playing their first game without Reggie Wayne.  This game is a toss up.

Prediction: Colts 27 Texans 24
