NCAA Tournament Projections -- March 16, 2008 (FINAL)

We are not happy with the late tip-offs.

...14 through 16 seeds are POSTED below...

Next up: 2:30 [1 through 4 seeds]

Here are some questions that Clement and I are discussing in real time:

  • If UNC loses, do they remain a #1 seed? If they remain a #1 seed, do they get to play in the Charlotte Regional? If Clemson wins, how high can they go?
  • If Texas wins, where will they land on the #1 seed line? Will they play in Houston? If Kansas loses, do they fall to #6 or below on the big board?
  • If Georgia wins the SEC, what seed will they receive? On the flipside, how far does Arkansas fall?
  • In a similar situation, Wisconsin must win to hold its #2 seed. If they lose, will they be on the #3 or #4 seed line? As for Illinois, who's bubble will they burst?

14: Boise State (WAC), Cornell (Ivy), Winthrop (Big South), American (Patriot)
15: Belmont (Atlantic Sun), Cal State Fullerton (Big West), UM-Baltimore County (America East), Portland State (Big Sky)
16: Austin Peay (Ohio Valley), UT-Arlington (Southland), Mount St. Mary’s (Northeast), Mississippi Valley State (SWAC), Coppin State (MEAC)

Note of Interest: Coppin State is the first 20-loss team ever to make the field.

Let's see how much things differ from our early Sunday Morning Bracket Projections.

Coppin State is obviously in the play-in game. I hope the Committee does not pick Miss Valley State to play them. I'm tired of seeing the two historically Black conference teams playing the play-in game.

Pick Mt. St. Mary's instead.

They did pick Mt. St. Mary's.

Note of Interest: Coppin State is the first 20-loss team ever to make the field. Andy Katz of ESPN is reporting that Coppin State will face Mount St. Mary's in the play-in game; thus, avoiding a battle between the two teams with the lowest RPI, both of whom are Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
