I meant to start a mid season recap this week, until I realized the fantasy football midseason has already passed.

Oh well.

Coming up is a compilation of random thoughts from the fantasy season thus far.

First, the league standings:

  • 1. Cam's Newton: 6-3 (928.70)
  • 2. Like I care: 6-3 (912.24)
  • 3. Will Starch You: 5-4 (994.56)
  • 4. A Real Piece of Work: 5-4 (939.86)
  • 5. The Low Metabolisms: 5-4 (910.62)
  • 6. California Dreamin': 5-4 (753.96)
  • 7. MF's New Mexicans: 4-5 (891.54)
  • 8. Welfare Bears: 4-5 (771.68)
  • 9. Texas Desparados: 3-6 (825.92)
  • 10. Rams Never Happened: 2-7 (874.52)

A quick note, the season runs through Week 14. The top 4 teams will qualify for the playoffs, to be held in Week 15 & Week 16.

In the event of a tie, total points scored will determine seedings.

The Inactivity Award goes to ......... BM, who not only auto-drafted his team, but waited until October 30th to drop Randall Cobb, his first and only transaction this season. Cobb has been inactive since October 6th.

The Let's Make a Deal Award goes to ............. DJ, who has participated in 4 in-season trades thus far. I'd like to make special mention of DJ's decision to trade Gronkowski and Brady to me, on the very week Gronkowski gets activated.

All of his activity on the trading block has resulted in a winning record thus far, but DJ's 753.96 points are the lowest in the league. We'll see if DJ's luck can carry into the playoffs.

The Tinkerer Award goes to ......... MF's New Mexicans, as MF has completed 34 roster transactions thus far, more than doubling Random Guy's 16. The league average for transactions is 11.

The Homer of the Year Award goes to ............ UBP. UBP's Texas Desparados have remained truer to their rooting allegiences, by starting as many as 6 Cowboys per week. UBP has also been rewarded for his belief in his boys, as his 3-6 record is outpacing his competition for the award, Nerb, who is 2-7.

The Darkhorse to Watch (team not currently in the top 4 that is most likely to make the playoffs) the rest of the way, in my estimation, is ................ #5 Random Guy. I would've picked MF's 4-5 team, but the Rodgers injury will be a tough one to overcome. I'm not exactly thrilled with Random Guy's squad, with the oft-injured McFadden and Sproles, and Jarrett Boykin / James Jones situation, but he's an otherwise solid line-up. Not many home-run hitters, but a steady team of reliable producers that could be a tough out.

The Paper Champs Award (top 4 team most likely to miss the playoffs) goes to ......... Cam's Newton. Very tough call to make here, but Twitter Dave has relied on the Drew Brees / Jimmy Graham connection quite a bit this season.

Its no surprise then, that two of Cam's three losses came when Graham was either inactive or on a bye week. With upcoming match-ups with SF and Seattle (both of whom present negative matchups for QBs and TEs, per FFToday.com) Cam's Newton will need more consistent production from from the rest of the roster, which is mostly comprised of boom or bust material like Alshon Jeffrey, Chris Johnson, Marques Colston, and Golden Tate.

Nerb and UBP should be a tie for the homer of the year award.

Should surprise absolutely nobody!!!!

Yeah, I should have held onto Gronk because TE is a weakness for me. But, I don't miss Brady much.

Here goes my lineup for another league this week:

QB - Cam or Pryor
RB - Lacy
RB - McCoy
WR - Hilton
WR - Antonio Brown
TE - Thomas or Reed
Flex - Jordy / Gio Bernard / Andre Brown / Denarius Moore
D - Cinci
K - Seattle's guy

Anyone got advice for QB or Flex? PPR league.

Lets keep in mind my first round pick was Foster and my 4th is Chris Johnson?

Kinda obvious I might be leaning a HAIR on my 2/3 rounders.

(my 5th was Colston)

This is awesome.

And I agree; the Rodgers injury is a huge blow to my team. Just a crushing loss particularly since I don't even carry a backup QB...

I think I would have to roll with Pryor this week. Kinda hard benching Cam but the matchups almost force your hand, in my opinion. And Jordy as the flex. I'd be tempted to go Bernard but not against Baltimore.

"Seattle guy" made me laugh.

I didn't come to my conclusion easily, but of the top 4 teams, it seems you're much more dependent on one offense than anyone else, which presents a problem if the offense struggles.

I landed Foles on waivers this morning. Giving him strong consideration. Will likely be Foles & Jordy, or Pryor & Moore, just to double dip any scoring opportunities.

Tiebreakers are decided by points, not head to head.

If Foles can be consistent for you, I'd take your squad over Random Guy's. Especially with guys like F. Jackson, V. Jackson, Harvin and Douglas on the bench.

It's a ten team league. You should be able to pick up a QB that is serviceable until Rogers comes back.
